LockedBest Movie this Summer???

posted on June 18, 2009 at 04:27PM Inappropriate?

I've been looking forward to several movies this Summer. I feel like I'm bringing back my childhood with Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe.... I've been seeing all the promotional materials in stores and toys for Transformers as well. I think they were cooler when I was younger, but I'm biased :)

What movie is everyone looking forward to this Summer?

The best one I've seen so far is Star Trek. Terminator Salvation was good too, although I would have enjoyed it more if they had not spoiled it by showing too much in the trailers. Pelham 123 is good also if you don't mind the f-word. I swear some of these writers must be given a $1000 bonus every time that word appears in the script.

We saw Up yesterday, and that's a pretty good movie. And, it's in kind-of 3D, which is cool.

I want to see Transformers 2, The new Terminator, and G I Joe when it comes out, but with my schedule it is near impossible to sit for two hours without getting bothered, especially with a 15 month old, but I will get there.

We saw Up, too.  That was a good one-kid and adult friendly!  There was a neat preview for "Where the Wild Things Are"  before the movie.  That looks like a great one, too.

WHAT? I didn't have a WTWTA preview! Man, now I'm gonna have to find that on youtube and see what it looks like. Is it CGI, or live-action/CGI, or animated?

I can't wait to See Transformers 2, and Where the Wild Things Are (that was one of my favorite books when I was a kid)

Where the Wild Things Are is live action!  And, directed by Spike Jonze.  Looks GORGEOUS, and fun for everyone!

The girlfriend dragged me to UP last weekend. I went in with little expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. I was really impressed the animation....extremely detailed.

I really liked the dog "Dug" with the translating dog collar. I had a good laugh with that :)

Yeah, Dug was the best. "Will you be my prisoner, bird?"

X-men, I've been waiting for them to do something w/ Gambit, most impressive effects. The new Star Trek was really done well, nice fresh way to start a new thrillogy.

I really enjoyed X-men as well! I was reading the other day that Ryan Reynold's has signed on for another X-men movie as Deadpool..... If you saw the trailer at the end of the credits, it showed that Deadpool wasn't dead.

Wolverine - Heard it was so so

Termniator Salvation - hear it was also so so

Star Trek - heard it was good

Transformers 2 - heard it was good

I am actually more excited for harry potter than all the others though. The only one I will prolly go see on opening night.

Star Trek was amazing, except for the fact that all the theaters near me have shoddy speakers and rather old projectors. That simple fact means i wont be seeing any other movies in theaters, beacause my home theater has far superior picture and sound quality, and it doesnt cost me anything to go to it.

That said, i am looking forward to seeing Terminator Salvation and Up, but i have absolutely no desire to see Transformers OR G.I. Joe, and i loved them both as a kid. Thing is, i absolutely hated the first Transformers movie, so i assume 2 is more of the same. G.I. Joe just looks nothing like the way my brain thinks it should, so i'll probably ignore it.

Oh, Night at the Museum 2 was REALLY good too.

I agree with you about seeing movies at a sub-par theater. Depending on the movie, I'll drive 20 minutes away to a different theater, bypassing 2 other theaters,  b/c it has "state of the art"  picture and sound.... especially for big action movies.

I really liked the first Transformers movie. I'm seeing Transformers 2 this weekend, so I'll relay my thoughts next week. Will be very curious how G.I. Joe is later this summer......

UP will be terrific on your home theater system, especially if you have Blu-Ray.
