I've been looking forward to several movies this Summer. I feel like I'm bringing back my childhood with Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe.... I've been seeing all the promotional materials in stores and toys for Transformers as well. I think they were cooler when I was younger, but I'm biased :)

What movie is everyone looking forward to this Summer?

Gumpo said…

Star Trek was amazing, except for the fact that all the theaters near me have shoddy speakers and rather old projectors. That simple fact means i wont be seeing any other movies in theaters, beacause my home theater has far superior picture and sound quality, and it doesnt cost me anything to go to it.

That said, i am looking forward to seeing Terminator Salvation and Up, but i have absolutely no desire to see Transformers OR G.I. Joe, and i loved them both as a kid. Thing is, i absolutely hated the first Transformers movie, so i assume 2 is more of the same. G.I. Joe just looks nothing like the way my brain thinks it should, so i'll probably ignore it.

Oh, Night at the Museum 2 was REALLY good too.

Sorry to hear about the less then ideal viewing conditions at your theater.  If you ever get a chance, there is nothing quite like that movie in an IMAX. WOOOT!

Anyone going to see G.I. Joe this weekend?.... I was a big GI Joe fan as a child and I'm excited to see the movie. However, based on the previews I've seen I'm not so sure about this one......

Also watching Gran Torino on NetFlix DVD this weekend... Has anyone else seen this movie and has an opinion?

Gran Torino was a good movie. One of those "make you think, there's so many things wrong with this world, yet sometimes good comes from bad" kind of movies. Interested to know what you think!

I wasn't a Star Trek fan, but I saw the new Star Trek movie on a recent plane trip. I thought it was really good and definitely set the stage for more movies.

We saw G.I. Joe yesterday and we really enjoyed it! A lot better than Transformers 2. If you were a fan as a kid you'll get a lot of in-jokes and references they added. There aren't many slow spots in this movie--it's action-packed and fast-paced. Look for Brendan Fraser in a cameo.

We got Gran Torino from Netflix, and it was an excellent movie. One of Clint Eastwood's very best.

Gran Torino was pretty good, but i by the description my friends told me, i expected there to be a bit more action at the end. It was still very entertaining though, and made an interesting point.

I just saw a trailer for Inglorious Basterds and oh my god i can't wait for it. I just hope its not as idiotic as QT's last couple of movies. (I couldn't stand Death Proof or Kill Bill, but i liek all his older stuff.)

And as far as IMAX goes, there's no way i would spend as much on a ticket as they want. I've gone to one before, and wasn't impressed enough to ever want to do it again. I guess the huge picture was cool, and the sound was a lot better than most of our theaters nearby, but i still prefer my couch.

Our daughter(a busy executive) convinced my wife and me  to go with her to see "Up", which I thought would be the typical boring children's animated feature. We  were pleasantly surprised to find that people of all ages can enjoy this particular movie.

I really liked "Public Enemies," particularly because I loved the Chicago references!

I saw G.I Joe on opening weekend and was a bit disappointed. I thought it was a bit farfetched and somewhat unreal..... However, I did like the story of SnakeEyes and Storm Shadow. Does Storm Shadow die in the comic series? I thought that story line should continue on. Overall, I would like to see a G.I.Joe sequel, but make it a bit more real.

I'm a fan of G.I. Joe and Transformers....and I enjoyed Transformers 1 & 2 much more.

The Hangover was brilliant, but I really think District 9 is going to be one of the big 3 this summer.

The Hangover was really really funny, much funnier than I thought it would be.  And District 9 freakin blew me away.  Did anyone happen to see Sunshine Cleaning?  It was great, too.

Ironically, the two closest Sears Malls in my area have AMC theaters attached.

I have not set foot in either theater.

No time! Gotta move! Gotta DIG!

I don't think the mall would appreciate you digging on their property Adam.  Especially in the movie theater. ;)

awh man...i have been wanting to see G.I. Joe but i don't think i will now. I don't want to waste my money if it's terrible!

Eh, go anyway.  Most of time when people say something is terrible, I end up liking it anyway.  Only you can decide if you like a movie.  Give it a shot.  Or wait for it on DVD.  Should only be a couple of months.

We took our 2 grandsons to see Where the Wild Things are this past Saturday, and I thought it was a super movie. Fantastic animation and facial expressions of these creatures. Although it is a children's story, it has pretty adult emotions and psychology

My mom used to read that book to me all the time when I was a little girl. I loved it. She also read me "Is Your Momma A Llama?" That was my favorite book back then..
