This vacuum has 4 filters in it that you HAVE to touch at some point. I thought it would be great to switch to a canister vac but that you just empty and go on about your business but not in this case. I have owned the Eureka Altima for over 2 years now and haven't had to replace it yet. It's convenient and easy to use. With the bagless system it's even easier to dispose the waste in the trash when finished vacuuming. It has withstood my teenaged daughters who do not like to pick up before vaccuuming. The only item I have had to replace is the filter and each time it works as if new again. I have owned Eureka vaccuums in the past and would buy another one in the future if I needed to.
