LockedWhat are you planning to do with your Tax Refund?

posted on May 05, 2009 at 10:24AM Inappropriate?

I got my tax refund check a few days ago, and I am saving it right now for my next big shopping - buying a home. We all know that the consumer confidence is down and people are saving rather than spending. I think even if you are saving you are saving to spend on something in future.

What are you planning to do with your tax refund?

I consider a tax refund to be a windfall ... and windfalls should not be enjoyed ... they should be utilized in the following priority: 1.  Debt reduction, 2. Saving, 3. Charity.   I paid off a minor debt and partailly funded a Roth IRA.

Paid off some debts, and purchased a new 10" chef's knife, and a nakiri. Both Shun, both just gorgeous.

plan to pay bills

I'm with sammel99, I need to pay off some major bills, at least put a sizable dent in them. It's not good to be in debt with this economy being as terrible as it is. I promised to get my son some new things and give him some money. I really need to do some minor repairs on the car and the house and buy a new sofa if I can swing it, too. Of course, I really would love to get some new music I've had my eye on for a while now... I've got to get something out of it for me!

Got my refund, paid off some annoying bills that were hanging out there, gave some to my church, gave my son some money and bought some things for him and my husband, getting some repairs done on the house. Still more to do but the money is running out.
