LockedThe Best Halloween Candy

posted on October 25, 2008 at 10:13AM Inappropriate?
I want to pick up Halloween Candy but some of it seems either way over priced and others look like they would taste terrible. What is the best value bag of Halloween Candy you've found? I'd love to know...

You're so right! It's pretty expensive if you have a lot of neighborhood kids who stop by for candy. What I've been doing is looking for deals in the circulars and online.

After Halloween! :) But that doesn't really help you. I've actually found some great deals at local drug stores. Usually the week of Trick or Treat time all of the candy seems to go on sale. One day left to find some candy!

Thanks for the ideas! What I found was called Kids Play Mix with over 200 pieces - Bubble Gum, Atomic Fire Balls, Smarties, Sweet Tarts, Jaw Breakers, Tootsie Rolls, and several other varieties. Basically I figure the kids want sugar and this bag has plenty of variety and wasn't as expensive as the bags of chocolate bars, I think I paid $5.99 a bag :)

We do a fun early trick or treat at the local church called Trunk or Treat. Everyone decorates the trunk of their car or SUV and hands out candy. Much less walking for the younger kids so it works out perfect. One parent hands out the candy, the other wanders around the blocked off parking lot with the kids. They you can relax at home and watch a fun Halloween movie or do fun crafts while decorating cookies or baking some other treat to enjoy.

Happy Haunting Everyone!!!

Happy Halloween! Check that candy before letting your kids eat it!

Just make sure it's all individually wrapped.

Otherwise any parent would have the candy "tossed" without a second thought.

Oh...

Miniature packages of M&M's.

Hmm the inexpensive bags would be good for handing out. I have to get a bag of the fun size Snickers and Milky Ways for me though ;)

Tootsie Roll Midgees, Wonka variety bags, and the Kids Play bags are all good bargains.

But, the best candy is the mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They're the perfect proportion of chocolate and PB, and the PB has a nice gritty saltiness. Mmmm...

Mmmmm......Don't get me started on my PB cups. And EricB, don't you come in here and smash my creamy Peanutbutter dreams again! ;)

So... you're the one that they manufacture all that candy corn for.  That explains it, because there's no other reason for them to keep on making it!

The idea about buying candy at the local drug store is terrific.  Thanks for sharing.

I used to love candy corn.

I take it, that you can buy it in little  sealed packets now?

The local Safeway used to have this large Brach's display where you could buy there candy in bulk or just pop in a nickel for a piece of Brach's candy.

Good days...

I seen it!

Two pounds, 5.5 oz. of packets of candy corn, for only $5.99, at Safeway!

Umm...

Does that weight include the packaging?

Yep I have a cot in the back of the factory and a funnel with a tube leading into the room that feeds me 24/7 lol.

Something with chocolate in it...

Dark Chocolate has "anti-oxidants".

All the candy corn ever made was made thirty years ago, it just seems to never go away, if there was ever nuclear fall out all that would be left would be roaches and candy corn haha. I'm a fan of butterfingers and heath bars.

The individually wrapped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are in the local food store!

Reese's also has some sort of chocalate-covered Peanut Butter stick type of candy in a bulk bag...
