What is the difference in the Kenmore Elite 20.6 cft freezer and the Frigidaire 20.6 cft freezer - both up rights?

sorry, can't answer that question, but wanted to make a comment on kenmore refrigerators, as it relates to shopping and choosing.  some of them are touting the icemaker in the door as a space saving feature.  don't buy one of these ice makers!  it seems that every time you open the freezer door the ice melts, or warms then melts, just enough to make the ice all freeze together, and then the dispenser can't work.  when you finally get the ice broken up enough for the dispenser to work, it "spits" ice at you, and generally ends up on the floor!  I don't even use the ice in the door anymore.  I just open the door and grab the ice, rather than be accosted by the ice dispenser.  Other than the icemaker, generally pretty happy with the fridge, at 8 mos old.

don't know the answer either, but just to let you know that we bought a Frigidaire chest freezer (not from Sears) within the last 5 years and the compressor went out and so now we have to buy another. I'm ticked-appliances should last longer than that-what happened to the appliances that lasted 20 years or more. I think it's a conspiracy-that companies intentionally make them to only last a couple of years so we have to keep buying more

Go to Sears.com, type in Upright freezer, on the left click on 20.6 cu ft capacity, then you can click on both freezers and click on compare! there are only a few differences. Like one has 3 basket and the other just 2. Frigidaire has wire shelves and Kenmore has glass shelves. Kenmore Elite has the soft freeze zone for icecream and one more shelve in the door. I hope this helps you out!

There will be feature differences only. The Kenmore upright freezers are manufactured by Frigidaire (there are only two companies in North America making freezers, and Frigidaire is one), so there really won't be much in the way of functional/component differences.

We just lost our 1978 Kenmore 19.6 Upright Freezer (R-12) as Sears Blue crew could not find a replacement compressor. lost nearly $600 in food and five service calls to figure out the problem.  This freezer was under a maintenance agreement the whole time. This was a good freezer overall and lost foo 3 times in 31 years, considering we live in Arizona.  Why did it take so long to figure out when I told the servivice technician what the problem was the first visit?

Bought the kenmore Elite Chest freezer back in march of 06.  After one year,  a circuit board had to be replaced for around $300.   Today,  the Sears Tech told me I need to replace 2 circuit boards (how many do these things have???) plus the wiring harness and the door.  All for just $800.   He also said it was made by Fridgidarie.   Apparently, these are extremely poorly made not to mention poorly engineered.   Does anyone make a freezer that lasts???
