my freezer won't shut off. the temperature inside is well below zero (about 10-15 degrees below) we found what we think is the thermostat and turned the "knob" on it til it clicked off. did we turn it off? or did we turn the themostat temperature down?

It might be set to permanent "full-blast".

Try turning the knob the "other" direction and leaving it there over night...

Inappropriate?

I've got the same problem on a 2 week old unit. Seems the thermostat has 2 setting: On & Off. I've called Sears service and as usual will have to take a day off to meet the service rep.. I may just send it back--I'm a bit irritated with the junk.
