Lockedicemaker not working

posted on December 31, 2009 at 01:03PM Inappropriate?

While I have water available in the door to my side-by-side Kenmore, the icemaker doesn't get water (there is no water in the clear plastic tube going up the back of the refrigerator).  If I put water in the icemaker manually, it freezes, but when the paddles try to push it out, they can't.  I think there is a little heater on the bottom of the ice tray that must not be working.  Seems to me there must be some form of controller that is not initiating the water or the ice tray heater.

I finally found someone with the same situation as mine! We have a Kenmore Side by Side 106.56576400. Ice is frozen in the trays but it is not coming out. Tried thawing it and starting over but it didn't work. Water is dispensing and coming into tubes - no ice though. Anyone have a suggestion?

We also have a problem with the ice maker.  Our refrigerator is only 2 years old and the ice machine isn't getting water to the maker.  It's coming to the water value, but not coming up the plastic tubing.  Must be pretty cheap stuff they are putting in these days.

I have a kenmore side by side fridge model 1069552882 the ice maker was working fine when we left for florida, when we returned and the water was turned back on now no ice?  The arm is in the down position and I can dispense water from the door fine.  I don't hear  any water going into the trays?

I'd be checking the water valve.Don't forget,it has two solenoids and two outlets, one for the drinking water and one for the water for the icemaker. You can check the coils for continuity or see if they are being energized,if you know how.
