Great microwave

I think this is a great microwave. It looks sleek and stylish and works great and quietly. It has nice features for a microwave of this low price and is well worth the money spent. It cooks and defrosts evenly. I especially like the removable shelf, which is not available at this price range in many... read full review »

It's OK but....

Yes, it's noisy, but until yesterday I didnt have any complaints.  I purchased Fall 2008 when I remodeled my kitchen.  Now it shorts the electric outlet whenever we try to heat something.  I expect to get more than a year and a half frommy purchases.  It had a normal amount of use.  Never had spills and it was kept clean inside with a dampened paper towel, never any cleaning solutions.  I have to buy a replacement this weekend and I wont be buying this model again.

We bought this microwave in January 2008, not because our old one wasn't working but because we were remodelling the kitchen and decided to buy an above-the-range microvawe.  Sadly, I never had my new cabinets installed, and got stuck with this microvawe which for the second time now needs to be repaired.  The first one we bought was damaged to begin with, and was replaced, and now this one is not cooking properly.  I'm not even going to bother to repair it; if it's the magnetron that's damaged again, the part plus labor will come up to over $100, and even if it were a cheaper repair,...

2 repairs

Bought this unit in Sept 07 at Sears for a good price. Previous microwave had been a GE so had no qualms about buying another GE. What a mistake. In Feb 08 the unit stopped heating. The magnatron needed to be replaced. It was still under warranty so didn't mind too much except for the inconvenience of being without the microwave. Now in Jan 2009 the exact same thing has happened. Now it looks like it will cost us about $150 to get this repaired. Will probably buy a new microwave instead of taking a chance of spending this money and having another big repair bill in less than a year. 2 major repairs... read full review »

It's simple, but good

I've read the reviews and would like to say that I have been very happy with this microwave. It is not the fanciest microwave and I do agree that it is somewhat noisy, but it is a great deal for the money. I have had zero problems with cooking foods or using any of the functions. This review is given after about 5 months of use.

4 stars

I thought for the price it works great. Husband installed easily but noise of the fan and exhaust is rather loud but I can deal with it. Best one I have had so far.

Miserable Performance!

This microwave is absolute GARBAGE! It came with the brand new house we bought. We have had to have GE come out 4 times for this microwave and they have replaced the heating element x2. Even with solid proof that it is not actually heating up FOOD with the specified times +/- mostly + they still refused to replace it, only advising that if a 240 +/- ml beaker of water heated to a certain temperature in the designated timeframe then it was satifactory. malarchy!!! If you have any expectations out of a microwave don't buy this one!

GE Above Range Microwave

I ordered this online....very quick service, easy to install........but very cheaply made!! For the cost of this item, you certainly do not get the value. The housing is not solid, and the turntable/motor is very noisy as is the vent. Also, the exterior surface lighting is very weak. I would rather have my range hood back!!!

Do NOT Buy This

I bought this microwave at Sears. They did not have one in the store so they ordered one for me and it was delivered to the store. Brand new in the box, it came without a charcoal filter which cost me twenty dollars. I used it twice and had to call the GE repair people. The main component was bad and had to be replaced. Looks good but expensive for use as a night light and clock.

Perfect

I bought this microwave last February 08.This is a very nice looking machine.I bought it before reading the reviews and was thinking about returning it , but decded to try it anyway. I followed the instructions carefully, paying carefull attention to the recommended height 30 inches above the stove to ensure the temperature sensor does not trigger the exhaust fan prematurely.I checked that the microwave was level and installed the exhaust ducting and secured everything . This unit is installed above a smooth top Stove,so heat can be a concern, if the correct height is not observed. In conclusion,If... read full review »

Do NOT buy

I purchased this microwave less that one year ago, and as soon as it was installed it already did not work. GE sent someone to check it, and it took over 2 weeks to get the part in, then they had to come back to install it. Now a few months later the exhaust fan will not stop running, and their service is very poor. Technicians are very late and their customer care line states to call back later because they cannot handle the calls. Not surprising that they have so many as thier products are so poorly made. I will never buy another GE product again and suggest that you do not either.

Fan is Terrible

If you are looking for an over the range hood which will actually perform both things it promises: venting and microwaving, then you will only get half of what you're looking for. The venting function doesn't have enough power to actually suck the air from both sides of your range, and when the GE repairman came to check out our unit, he openly admitted that this was one of the most undependable GE microhood products, and there was nothing he could do about it. He said it was performing to specification, but that the specifications weren't good enough to do what they are promised. The look of the... read full review »

Not so bad

I completely disagree w/ some of the other reviews. I LIKE this microwave. Many of the reviews state that the microwave is loud! It's fairly quiet, not loud at all. I was considering not buying this microwave b/c of the reviews. If you want a good microwave...this is a good one.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT

I have had this microwave for less than 2 years and it has gone out on us twice. This time it has to be replaced. As the other reviewers stated, it is the noisiest microwave I have ever heard. Hate it!!! Don't waste your money!!!
