“This fridge was a beautiful bargain at $1440”
I researched bottom freezers to death. We needed a stainless and are very concerned with energy cost and savings. Many if not most models cost above $2000. This one was on sale for under 1500, was financing free for a year AND had a rebate for delivery. The delivery, unfortunately, was a disaster, and Sears has lost all my confidence as a result. The installer did not stay long enough to insure that the fridge actually COOLED; the information booklet said it takes "24 hours" to regulate temperature, so we were not appropriately alarmed when the temp never went under 60 degrees the first day. I kept reading the book and seeing that it needed time. I called Sears that evening only to be told the same. The next morning (after everything in the fridge was sour/dead) Sears said they could come to repair the NEXT DAY. I lost well over $600 in food and was told that Sears will only cover $100. They are replacing the fridge with another December 5, which means as far as they are concerned we have no fridge for Thanksgiving.
GE, however, sent someone the next day, still a pain, still an inconvenience, but the correct response to a defective product. The service man replaced the control panel and bingo, it works now. That said:
This WORKING fridge is quiet, beautiful, and keeps things at a very steady temperature. The bins are large and easy to clean, the design very practical. I couldn't be happier with this appliance.
