After 9 months of use, my washer developed a leak in door seal like others have reported and flooded my laundry room. So I called for warranty service and took a day off only to find out the tech needed to order parts. He told me he would reschedule in 1 week. So I took anther day off only to find out the parts were on backorder. After waiting three weeks, I finally started to call GE to inquire about the delay and express my disappointment. They told me they had no idea when the parts would be available. At one point they told me it was going to be May (my washer broke on Feb 2nd). After numerous...
read full review »Takes too much time to wash. After having this machine for only two years the rubber seal is broken that holds the water in the machine and will cost hundreds to fix. Foud out only after the fact that this is a very common problem. After calling GE they will only pay half price for the part if we get a pay to have it installed. They even agreed this is a common problem. I bought this for the GE durability. I will never buy from GE again. EVER. Do not buy this machine.
I would not reccommend buying these!! I bought them when they first came out and was so excited about the energy & water savings, well when it takes over an hour to do a load of laundry I can't imagine I'm saving anything! "Speed wash" takes at least 40 minutes, doing a load of whites takes 81 minutes. Also, my dryer is now not really drying, I'm putting in a light load of t-shirts etc and the "mixed load" setting tells me it's going to take 99 minutes, when it's done the clothes are still damp. Over an hour and a half to dry clothes can't be billed as energy saving!! With the amount of money...
read full review »I have had this washer for about a month. After three weeks of use, the door started to leak water in the middle of the wash cycle. There was a lot of water, and it made a huge mess of my laundry room. Under the circumstances, I can't recommend this product.
This machine has a major design flaw. There is expensive, hard-to-replace electronics right on the bottom floor of the washer. If ANY water gets in there, you have an expensive repair bill. Considering that many people install their washer in the basement, and considering that many basements are at least occasionally wet or damp, this is a recipe for disaster.
Purchased the washer and dryer as a set 18 months ago. I'm a single guy who would use this washer maybe once every two weeks--on average about 2 or 3 loads/per laundry day. One day the machine starts leaking really bad and pouring out water from underneath the machine. Called Sears and was talked into buy a service agreement for $319.00 (since the warranty you get with a machine is only good for one year). When the repair man came out to the house he determined the tub was cracked and the part was $569.00 plus $165.00 for labor--grand total $734.00, guess what sears will only cover up to $500.00!!...

I'd read reviews before purchasing the GE Washer, which made me watch the performance of my new washer more carefully than I think I would have had I not read reviews. I can report after half a year of use, that I really enjoy using this washer. The selection dial and easy read control panel are a bonus to the wonderful way my clothes come out clean. I just purchased the matching dryer this month and wish I had done so at the time of my washer purchase.
I've had mine for about 6 months and I do love it. I've read the reviews for those who aren't happy with there machines and have to wonder if any of them read the user guide booklet/owners manual that comes with the washer. If your clothes are coming out wet, it is a CLEAR indication that your machine is NOT level. If your machine is not level there is a darn good chance the load will be out of balance. I had the same problem with wet clothes and once I leveled the washer again...voila! no more soakeing wet clothes. As a matter of fact they are almost dry, so drying time is significantly...

I purchased a GE Energy Star 4.0 IEC Cu Ft King-size Capacity Frontload Washer and matching dryer for my wife, as a surprise in September of 2005, while she was deployed with the Air Force to support Operation Hurricane Katrina. It was great for the first 6 months and then we started having problems with it stopping mid-cycle and not rinsing or draining. We were able to manipulate it manually for awhile and then it started to work again so we didn't call anyone for repairs. It went...

Runs quietly, lets you know how much time you have left for the cycle you choose. Can set it once and forget it, or set it each time you wash different fabrics. Does a wonderful job and makes washing those clothes a nice experience.
Front load, and no bending if you add the pedastal to it. Doesn't require a lot of washing powder or liquid, bleach or fabric softener. The clothes come out clean. One recommendation is that you use the special cleaner to keep the water...
