No problems so far

We bought a new house that needed an entire appliance package. I purchased the GE Profile line from Sears including the Microwave, Range, Dishwasher & Refrigerator in Nov 2007. Almost 10 months with the unit and it works great. We use almost daily with not a single issue. I take care of the appliance,... read full review »

POOR

I THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT MICROWAVE UNTIL I HAD A PROBLEM. HAD THIS UNIT FOR 4 YEARS. IT WORKED GREAT UNTIL IT WOULD NOT START. HAD THE SEARS REPAIR MAN OUT TO LOOK AT IT AND HE TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW ELECTRONICS BOARD. TOLD ME THE BOARD WOULD COST $600 AND INSTALLATION WOULD BE ABOUT $200. THAT WAS... read full review »

GE Profile 30" 2.0 cu. ft. Microhood... Reviews

Displaying reviews 1 - 13 of 16 in total

We've had this model for a little over a year.  The sensor cooking has been a great feature.  I hate having to guess in advance what time to set, then decide if I guessed right, then remember the right amount of time for a variety of foods.  Sensor cooking means find the food type on the display, push the button, relax.  We use our MW everyday multiple times for heating leftovers (my lunch staple) water for tea, popcorn, etc.  In the one year we've had, it, it has seen lots and lots of use and is holding up well (so far).

My complaint is that the fan is weak.  It sure sounds powerful on high,...

was great when it worked

I loved the features on this microwave; and they worked - until it stopped working four years after it was purchased and installed. I am disappointed in this GE product and expected more years of service.

Good for 3 years

Good while it worked. It looked good and had a lot of features but, just like the last few reviewers this microwave died after 3 years. Thanksgiving Day and no microwave. It shuts off after 2 seconds. The control board died. I wish I had these reviews - I wouldn't have purchased this microwave back then. $600 for 3 years is a little steep. Buyer beware.

GE Profile line coming up short

We just finished remodeling our kitchen and purchased 4 GE Profile appliances. The microwave looks great but made an occasional funny vibrating noise since day 1. After only 1 month the unit made a big POP sound and died. The repairman is replacing 2 switches, the fan and a bearing. I hardly ever used it! And now we have to wait 10 days till the parts come in and he comes back. It probably should have just been replaced but I don't think he wanted to remove and re-install a built-in unit. We also ran into problems while ordering the Profile refrigerator. The model we ordered was discontinued and... read full review »

profile 2070 model

Got all new appliance with new home in 2005, this microwave being 1 of the new appliances. touch pad console had to be replaced 3 times under 1 year warranty because it would go on the fritz and stop working..by the way very expensive to replace if out of warranty $300+..Now unit will not microwave anything at all but touch pad works don't figure..ugh..I reccomend to avoid.

Unhappy with micro

I rated this a 1 so far. Purchased and installed in January 08 and it came with a broken light bulb and thought maybe that was why it kept faulting. Replaced light bulb at my own expense and that didn't solve the problem. Repair tech has been out twice and can't figure out what is wrong with it. He even suggested returning it for a replacement. Calling Sears tomorrow to request a replacement. The style is nice and seems easy to use when it works. Also purchased the matching GE Profile range and fridge and no problems with them. They all coordinate beautifully. Hopefully this one is just a lemon... read full review »

Love it!

This unit has been in use for about 5 months now. I love the variety of settings available on this unit. I use the Soften feature a lot especially when baking. Another nice feature is the vent closes when not in use. It really makes the unit look nice and helps keep it very clean. The touchscreen will collect fingerprints easily. I have learned to use my fingernails instead. This unit is nice and large and will accomodate large meals preparation. Buy it and enjoy it! Watch for the sales and GE rebates!

Nice overall

Microwave works well for most functions. Controls are easy and intuitive. Style is very nice - looks great with matching GE Profile range. Only downsides are weak lighting, and exhaust hood isn't as powerful as it sounds. Overall, we're very pleased with the purchase.

Looks and works excellent

Just had it installed today. I tried cooking different foods and liquid products from reheating to cooking and it worked great. The controls seem easy to operate. My 13 teen and 16 year old like it also. They use it to reheat left overs and everything came out heated thru the first time. The controls take the guess work out of how much time it takes to cook and reheat. So far we are very happy. We will see as time goes on and I get to use it more how good it is. I will give another review in 6 months.

Loved it... until it died

No power after 3 years. Control board went bad and the part alone is $450. Up unitl then loved it though the upper vent had started to stick. SAD.... won't buy another.

Stops working after 3 years

We purchased a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0 3 years ago. It stopped working recently. The Sears repair person came out today and said it would cost $700 for just the part to repair, not including the labor. After reading other review online, we will not be purchasing a replacement model.

Noisy

We are getting a replacemnt from Sears, but even the installer said this doesn't sound right the first time we turned it on. Sears won't replace w/out having service tech come verify the prob. 1st. He came, he verified, actually took the entire thing apart. We're having a new one sent rather than replacing the part. Sears tech didn't take care of machine when uninstalling (damaged it further) and I wasn't about to put that machine back on the wall. Aside from the whining noise, some sort of mixer mech. we really like the micro as a replacement for the latest LG model w/ slide and glide tray (don't... read full review »

Not a GE Microwave Fan

After 18 months of ownership with routine use, the Sears repariman told us it would cost approximately $575 to repair a defective computer board. Do not buy this microwave!
