GE Profile 4.1 cu. ft. IEC Colossal Capacity High-Efficiency Topload Washer Review

We bought our GE Profile HE washer and dryer in July 09. I HATE my washer. It spins the clothes so fast, that everything comes out with hundreds of tiny wrinkles on them. You have dry your clothes fully in order to get rid of all of them, or iron everything. Who has time for that? I do not dry some of my clothes, so in order not to have excessive wrinkling, I have to wash everything on the delicates cylcle which has a slower spin speed, BUT since I'm washing regular clothes on a delicate cycle, nothing gets cleaned so I have to wash twice.

Next thing is the residue. All of my colored clothes come out with white detergent residue. I have followed all manufacturer's directions on this (and the wrinkling issue also), and talked to GE twice. Still, residue. I'm on my third type of HE detergent, I put the detergent in before the clothes, I've even tried filling the basket with water before putting in the clothes, tried the second rinse option, had my water tested. Believe me, I have tried everything not to have to return these. So, colors have to be washed twice. Once with detergent, once without to remove the residue. HE goes out the window when you have to wash every load twice. Also, the sensor on my dryer must be defective because when I use the sensing option to detect when the clothes are dry, everything comes out slightly damp and cool, even on the more dry setting. So, you have to use the timed dry, thus HE again goes out the window.

So the second phone call to GE put me with a service tech. He actually told me to exchange these! He said there is flaw in the design with the agitator. These have short agitators, and because of the way they spin, they do actually cause excessive wrinkling! He said to buy one with a taller agitator, and he recommends trying to return these with Sears, which is exactly what I am doing. Don't waste your money on these! Let Ge "iron out the wrinkles" on these models before you buy them! Big waste of money, time, and heartache.
