Perfect mini fridge

I would highly recommend this mini fridge. It holds much more than you would imagine. It is easy to move around. It is quiet. It is very cute. It works very well. It keeps items colder than my big fridge. It is very inexpensive compared to similar models. If you want a mini fridge, don't hesitate, this... read full review »

I already knew thermoelectric coolers had a practical limit to their cooling, but I was hoping

some new development arose that I was unaware of.  Well, I was right, still no more than 20

to 25 degrees cooler than ambient.  Took it back and had the transaction voided.  Now I'll be

going out to...

Unfortunately, i did not realize when I purchased this refrigerator that it did not have a compressor. That is the only reason I gave it 1 star.

This is a cooler.  It does not chill food below the FDA recommended 40 degrees to keep food SAFE to eat.  This is being advertised as a refrigerator but it has no cooling unit and no compressor.  This is a cooler.  It should be advertised as a cooler.  This is only meant to keep food cold for a couple of hours.  Keeping food in this cooler longer than that is considered UNSAFE by the FDA.

This is not a fridge.  It will only chill things to 20F below ambient temperature.

Sears should remove "Refrigerator" from the title. It is very misleading, since this is a cooler, not a refrigerator.

On the positive side, when I went to pick it up, the sales clerk told me about the limitations of the unit and the manager at my store upgraded me to the next size up Kenmore mini fridge at no charge.

This is not a refrigerator and shouldn't be advertised as such.  It will not keep food safe to eat that is supposed to be kept at a refrigerator temperature (<40F).

Bought a Galactic Lemon!

I purchased the Galaxy 1.7 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator in January 2008 and it died in April 2009...just months after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I agree with multiple others' reviews - The fridge could only drop the temperature of the soda/beers 20 degrees or so, never "cold" even after leaving the cans in overnight. It was incredibly quiet, but now it is too quiet all together.

Got this little sucker for college. Worst purchase ever. Not only is it luke warm in ideal conditions, it reeks. The fridge smells so strongly of plastic and chemicals, it seeps into and saturates my food and drink and makes everything completely inedible and disgusting. The smell is horrid, and it lingers in the room. I'm honestly afraid to open the fridge. What in the world is wrong with this thing? I've tried a vinegar wash, I've tried a baking soda wash, I've even purchased deodorizers for it and nothing has improved. I'd sooner use the suite fridge and have my food stolen than use the Galaxy...

Cheap for a Reason !!

Needed a refrigerator for my office.  Saw the price of this one and thought I was getting a deal.  Worked fine for about 3 weeks, then the noise started.  I would unplug it and plug it back in.  This worked for a week then it died.  You get what you pay for.

only lasted a year, not cold enough

This was about the only compact fridge I could find that did NOT have a "freezer" which I preferred so I wouldn't have to bother with defrosting. Didn't keep contents very cold. Died shortly after the year warranty ran out(fan still runs but blows only room-temperature air)

Good for an office

Seems to work just fine. It's in my husband's office at work. Perfect for a weeks worth of drinks, yogurt, fruit, etc. Stays cold and runs quietly.

Good office refrigerator

Like carmazon, maybe I got the anti-lemon. Everything is always cool. I'm just using it as an in-the-office under-the-desk refrigerator to hold a week's worth of lunch-sandwich tomatoes and an occasional drink. I can keep fruit in there as well. It takes a couple days to get "cool", if you add warm-stuff it may take a day to get cool again, if you open the door more than a quick-grab it won't recover for an hour. So NO! you should not be keeping milk in it, nor using it in any warm area, or opening it dozens of times a day. It is a gentle slow chill, not the brutal cold of a Freon machine. Understand... read full review »

Most Amazing Refrigerator You Could Dream Of

When my friend first told me that Sears sold a brand called Galaxy, and it was the best brand in the market next to maybe Hotpoint, my jaw dropped to the floor in amazement and awe. And my friend was not even kidding!!! Two years later I finally got to my local Sears and went into the appliances department. Out on the main aisle was the most magnificent, eggshell white refrigerator I had ever seen in my fifty-eight year career being a human on this great earth. The refrigerator seemed to call out to me, "Hello sir, may I keep your pimento loaf cold for you, may I keep your bread frozen for you?!"... read full review »

Fridge is not cold - by design!

This fridge does not work. It is designed to operate at 20-25 degrees below room temperature at the max cold setting - says so right in the manual. That's not cold enough to keep many foods from spoiling, especially dairy. Unless you are keeping it in a very chilly room, don't buy it!
