The Garmin Magellan RoadMate 1200 doesnt look from the outside to have all the bells and whistles, but once hooked up beats ALL others in price and quality! I searched and searched for 6 months trying to find my daughter a GPS for Christmas and, to be honest, i didn't have a clue when I started looking. They all looked the same to me. I figured I could just get the cheapest one and she would be happy. Well, I bought the first one, on sale (what a steal!!) for $29.95. I thought yay! all done with her shopping. Then she calls. "oh don't forget mom, it just HAS to be a touch screen or I'll just DIE!) Well, here we go, searching for a new GPS and taking the other back. Ok, so I find one for $39.99 and it has touch screen! I come home SO excited and get the call. "Don't forget mom, it just HAS to have as many points of interest as they come or I'll just DIE on my road trip this summer!" Ok, here we go again. It's starting to snow, in Portland, Oregon. Hmm, it probably won't snow that much, so here we go. 25 days till Christmas. So I find it, it has the MOST points of interest I could find. 550,000. Ouch, kinda pricey, $170.00 but worth it because by now the snow is coming down REALLY hard. I get home exhausted. And get the call...ugh..."Oh, don't forget mom, it just HAS to be a female voice that TALKS to me or I'll just DIE!!!!" Well, by now I have gotten a lot more knowledgeable about them and knew RIGHT where the one she wanted was. I pull on my snow boots, bundle up warm, and head out. 30 mile an hour winds, sideways blowing freezing rain and 4 feet of snow already. Good thing I grew up in Montana huh? I head to good ol Best Buy. Its closest and I knew they had them. I go in, find the one she wants. And about passed out! $475.00!!!! I cried right there in the store. With this economy I could NEVER afford that. And now I only have 3 days until Christmas. I couldn't get it. On the way home I decided to stop at K-Mart and get a sled for the kids. Just out of curiosity I went over to the electronics department, and there it was...the Garmen Magellian RoadMate 1200. $140.00. I thought no, it couldn't have all she wants for that price. i asked the associate to take it out of the case. 7.5 MILLION points of interest!!! Touch Screen! Female voice that talks to her! And ALL the bells and whistles that the other high priced ones have. So If your looking to buy a GPS don't drag yourself through all that and just pick up a Garmin Magellan RoadMate 1200! You will NEVER regret it!
