Garmin has been in the GPS business the longest out of all the GPS companies, so it's the one I trust. I picked the Streetpilot c550 because (at the time) it was the only GPS to offer live traffic reports. You can plug it in and instantly receive live traffic patterns depending on your driving route and detours to plan away from traffic. Also, with this model, you can login to garmin.com and download new icons to use as your vehicle in your GPS (unnecessary, but fun and not something available in all brands).

read full review »When my husband decided to retire, we purchased a Garmin StreetPilot 550c GPS system.
We've been all over the country and want to go more with our Garmin GPS. It tells us where the next restaurants, gas, motels and attractions are. and even behind us.
We love it. can't leave home without it.
It is easy to install and use. Voice is clear and understandable. and affordable now.
Street Pilot is great, but needs ONE more thing. That being able to enter GPS locations and would that you there just like it does if you put in an address.
Maybe someone out there knows how to do this?
