Gift card are always a simple yet thoughtful gift when you can't think of anything else. I always use a bunch during the holidays. How do you feel about them? Do they carry enough sentimental value?

The gift cards with tools (my interest) are certainly worth keeping, long past the money in them has been used.

I suppose it's all i how it's presented.  If you just give it to them and say I didnt know what to give you so I got you this.  Doesnt seem like you put that much thought into it.  If you make it a themed gift card for the thing you think they might like, put it in a neat themed holder (make one yourself or buy something)  Make it an event in itself "I didnt know what Miter saw you wanted so now you can pick out the one thats best!"

Or...

You could wrap it, in a small box, that's put into a wrapped medium box, that's put into a larger box.

Well, you get the idea.

I'm a HUGE fan of gift cards. They're always the right size and color and very, very welcome.  My family is very small so we generally get each other gift cards for favorite places and spoil my nephew rotten with toys.  I love that I can get gift cards at my local grocery store so I don't actually have to go to all the places to get them.  Yep, I'm lazy LOL.  I also love waiting to use them until mid-January when everything is on clearance and I can get more for my money.
