Tools make GREAT gifts.

From that first set of Craftsman screwdrivers, wrenches or a socket set, onward and upward to a Mechanic's Tool Set.

What starts out fixing a bike, can graduate to a car, then over to DIY work around the home, finally assembling baby furniture and making stuff for the grandchildren.

Tools, are where it's at!

And, there are some mighty nice Craftsman tools available out-there.

For more specific ideas, check out the Gift Ideas section of the Craftsman Club bulletin board, at www. craftsmantooltalk.com.

The Craftsman hammerhead was immensely popular for Christmas. A strong focus on the new Nex-Tec and Li-ion power tools will help drive PPT sales. Perhaps Sears could do a performance/price comparison with some of the big names like DeWalt and Makita, and show how Craftsman stacks up despite the far smaller price?

The Craftsman hammer head is back in stock and the Craftsman Multi-tool is available, too.

Both tools use the same type of 12 volt, Lithium-Ion battery and charger.

There's a new red annodized aluminum 9 inch Speed Square available in the store, now.

It doesn't cost much and looks very festive.

A Breaker Bar is an excellent tool to include with any socket set.

A great tool to immediately add to a new Mechanics' Tool Set (MTS) or great add-on tools for people who already own an MTS.

Being Craftsman Mechanics' hand tools, the U.S. Made Breaker Bars have the life-time warranty.

Using a Breaker Bar will also dramatically extend the life of any and all of your existing ratchets.

All-in-all a really good gift.

They come in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch drive versions.

With TWO different lengthes of 1/2 inch drive Break-Loose-Bars (BLB).

The Craftsman tool line now has its very own OBD-II Reader!

I just saw it in the "has no place to stock" part of the stockroom.

Hopefully, it will be out on display, available for purchase; soon.

With the Craftsman Multi-tool featured on the latest TV promotion, I am anticipating a run on the store for these tools, as holiday gifts.

Hopefully, the Craftsman electric hammer shortage has taught the Sears tool buyer(s) a lesson on keeping the Multi-tools in stock, during the holidays.

Cross your fingers.

I saw an OBD II Scanner, also.

Neither one has a hook on the display, yet.

We "lost" the intermediate tool warehouse, so those OBD-II devices are in a box, on a flat-bed cart, that's "around" somewhere - like the Craftsman Dogbone wrenches that now have hook to hang them on, but haven't been seen for a while.

That room looks so weird, with all those empty hooks.

Now, the merchandise is stored safely away, behind locked warehouse doors - that very few people have keys to, if the display hooks are out of stock, "We're out of stock" of the item."

They got a full-page/back cover ad on one of the new Handyman magazines I just bought.

It's all about workshop accessory storage you can build for your shop.

You know;

One of my personal hobbies...

I saw a Craftsman electric hammer ad on TV.

I hope Sears has a better supply connection for this next up and coming holiday...

We have a Nextec Multi-tool display that is capable of holding a WHOLE 18 tool kits.

I think we kept the Nextec Hammer display.

But, we have not received enough inventory to fill it to the point of being able to display on the floor.

You could turn that festive-looking red annodized speed-square into a real holiday ornament by rubbing in some contrasting color green oil pastel into the engraved ruler markings of the square.

Maybe another pastel color into the numbers of the square.

One color for linear measurements.

Another color for the angle measurements.

Sears is back to offering Screwdriver sets in boxes again.

These gifts are MUCH easier to wrap up for gift giving.

And, the box is a pretty good gift, after the screwdrivers have been taken out.

I'm thinking, maybe... holding an old collectible Craftsman ratchet!

The "world's smallest" metal tool boxes are back on display this year.

On the Gift Card display stands.

They're CRAFTSMAN boxes, too.

They're not as elaborate as the 1998 metal miniature boxes.

But, they are definitely "collectibles".

I'm sure my Sears Tool Wishbook will eventually get here.

But, while waiting...

I got in the new Lee Valley Holiday Gift catalog and it was chock-full of unique and fascinating tool gift items.

There's a miniature Woodworker's Shoulder plane, that's only 2-1/2 inches long, made by Veritas for only $29.50.

That there would make a fantastic bolo!

There is a bench mounted, cast-iron, Spill plane, whose only job is to create a tightly curled, long length wood shaving, used to move fire from one place to another, for only $49.00.

This one is for the more nostalgic of us...

There's an Indonesian Ebony wooden-soled Edge-rounding plane, with a 1/16 inch radius high-speed steel cutter, for $19.50.

That would go very nicely with my Maple radius plane (1/8 inch radiused cutter) and my Walnut chamfer wooden-bodied, brass-soled planes.

A Lee Valley Woodworker's calendar is available for only $6.

And, some very interesting copper tags, that a "dry" ball-point pen can be used to "engrave" in information, at 50 for $12.95.

These are all potentially wonderful tool gifts for someone special.
