How is jewelry divided up in a divorce?

posted on December 14, 2009 at 11:36AM

You might want to ask a lawyer that.

10 Days left until Christmas Eve and Hanukkah started on the 12th.

Use the catalog to give you some ideas on what to give that special someone!!!

I was wondering about things like ear rings. In the old days you (or the court appointed adjudicator) wouldn't split a pair of ear rings up.  But nowadays you see people wearing one ear ring and some men wear ear rings.  So perhaps it would make sense to divide a pair of ear rings between the two parties,  especially if it was a very expensive pair.

I also wonder if  there is any symbolism in wearing one ear ring.  Does wearing it on the left or right ear convey some message?

I found an interesting blog on jewelry and divorce.... http://robinroshkind.wordpress.com/tag/divorce-and-jewelry/

This by no means represents advice, again, you should talk to your lawyer because laws vary by state.

As far as wearing one earring, the meaning is very culturally-specific, so what goes on the east coast may not have the same meaning in the Midwest or elsewhere.  It really comes down to what it means to you!

Ok, so let's get back to talking about something happy....like the fact that it's the holiday season!

I was just scrolling through the catalog and saw this cool flower crystal ring....

It's at the bottom of page 19.  I see new bling in my future!

I have no objection to being happy, but "bling" looks too much like "billing".  Pick another word.

Sparkle?

Sparkle!  That's unambiguous.

i recommend the 1/3 ct black diamond stud earrings. they're super cute!

the backs are horrible tho.. i've already lost all 4 (got 2 sets) and had to dig 'em out of the shower drain and out of my pillow case a few times... so get some extra earring backs! rubber ones work well and are $1.50 for 10 sets on ebay ;)

I'm working on more Bolos, to wear at work and the swap meats...

Do you mean that you are constructing them or angling for someone to buy them for you?

I'm in love with those black diamonds this year!  And there is some really cool stuff in that Rock & Redemption line too.  I'm crazy about skulls so I'll be checking some of that out for sure when I get to the store to get my black and white diamond band.

Are skulls actually little human skulls or is this a technical term in jewelry?

It's jewelry shaped like skulls.  Go to sears.com and search for Rock & Redemption and you'll see.

The silver skull looks unusual...can't imagine who would want to wear that as jewlery. Rock & Redemption Onyx Pendant with Sterling Silver Snake Overlay on the other hand looks pretty sweet.

I would wear them, but then I really like skulls and snakes and gothy stuff like that.  It's not for everyone but it makes the people who do like that kind of thing happy.
