Is there a difference between a grill that uses bottled gas and one that can be hooked up to a natural gas line?

Yes.

Different orifices and I believe a specific pressure regulator for the different types of gas.

Most grills come set up for bottled Propane gas.

The conversion kits for natural gas are available for some of the medium to high-end grills.

I hope this helps.

Most Kenmore and Weber Natural gas grills are special orders, but readily available for about 50 bucks more. There is also a Kenmore dual-fuel model that has a conversion kit available from Parts.
