Gotta know how to use it

Hamilton Beach 12-Cup Coffeemaker, BrewStation Plus —

I bought my first HB brewstation about 5-6 years ago. It was great, as long as you did a few things. 1. periodically run vinegar through it. It gets gummed up and needs a clean. - also keep the metal plate clean in the bottom of the tank. 2. use a separate container to pour the water. I filled the tank with water, then poured it into a cheap plastic pitcher. I marked the level, and from then on used the picher. It took all the guess work out, and I didn't have to carefully put the tank back w/water in it every time. 3. don't over fill. It drips into the electronics and causes it to not turn off, or not start. If you do over fill and see these problems, unplug and let it dry out for a couple days. 4. don't over fill the coffee basket. you get grounds into the tank. When grounds get into the tank it causes the valve on the bottom to leak. If the coffee starts brewing and you notice it leaking, take a cup and tap off a little coffee. It should clear the valve (unless there's a lot of grounds in it. 5. Keep the grid/drip catcher clean. This is a matter of preference. The HBBS doens't drip much, but pouring a cup can drip. If this catcher gets full, it can overflow onto your counter. I usually keep a paper towel under the front of the pot as well to catch drips. 5. For negative stuff, the gauge on the tank is not easy to read, thus using a seperate pitcher. I don't work for HB, I just like convient coffee. I've been using home coffee pots since the original Mr. Coffee. I like this one best. My pot of 4+ years is getting old, going to Sears today to get another.
