No calories.  That is very important. I don't know much about all the supposed cancerous effects, but at least there are no calories!

What ya need to find is some more of the anti-oxidation food/drinks and avoid them free radicals.

I've always preferred diet soda over regualar-No sugar, no cals. I also find that regular soda makes me bloat, diet does not. Now they say that the artificial sweetners used in these diet drinks are not good for you because of cancer blah blah blah. But as AdamO pointed out, pretty much everything around us is a health risk. Basically carbonated drinks are not exactly the best thing for you. Best thing is to stick with 100% fruit juices, tea, and of course water. I only drink soda (diet soda) when im at a restuarant.

The first time you drink Diet it's noticeable but after awhile you get used to the taste and can't taste difference. But for the first few times you'll think it tastes much worse than regular.

Look for Splenda as the sweetener rather than Aspartame; I heard a PBS radio program that warned of the dangers of Aspartame.  Unfortunately the major brands generally use Aspartame, but you can find Splenda in Diet Rite and Diet Shasta and it usually costs less and still has most flavors.

Have you noticed how many foods have high fructose corn syrup. We try to stay away from it but you have to do a lot of cooking and baking from scratch

My recommendation?

Brands like Boylan's out of New Jersey, and the Honest line of teas and fruit drinks.

They use regular cane sugar, not some concentrated ****** syrup.

Funniest thing I ever read on a soda can was 7-Up, and their "five all natural ingredients".

How is high fructose corn syrup a "natural ingredient"?

OH, and I love mineral water.  I pick up Pellegrino by the case for twenty bucks at my local grocery chain.  It's less than a buck a 16 oz. bottle, and it's good for you.

For reference, I usually get mistaken for my mid to late twenties, and in my mid thirties.

Stay away from all the artificial ****.  I always have.

Yaa...

That unsweetened Ice tea will wake you up, almost as good as a good cup of coffee (or a good slap on the face).

the issue is with the penanlyphinine in the drinks, at 90degrees in aqueous solution it breaks down into fermaldehyde, sure your body doesnt asborb it and you just pee it out, but i dont feel safe having that stuff sitting aorund in my gut in larger amounts

Not much......when you drink a diet drink your body responds to the sweet taste and prepares to process the sugar you intake, because it's artificially sweetened the body does not recieve the sugar it expected so it causes you to crave sugar and you usually end up eating more than you would have normally.  Forget sodas all together, diet or otherwise.

I like that explanation, and personally, I hate the taste of diet sodas. I used to drink one can of soda almost every day, but now it is rare that I drink any at all.

Unless you're diabetic, the need for diet sodas is not that great.

Adjust your diet, and get regular exercise.

Nothing is much better for you than power walking.

I power walk back and forth in the store's warehouse, 5 days a week.

We even have "ramps" for strength training.

I was watching extreme makeover. Sears showingly paid off the medical bills of this desparate family. However, is sears holdings, just as responsible and generous when extending health insurance to its associaes?

The cola's have Phosphoric acid in them!

That'll help dissolve that penanlyphinine...
