LockedFavorite Smoothie Recipe?

My newest kitchen appliance purchase will be a blender. That being said, I want to try out some smoothie recipes right away!

Do you have any healthy recommendations? I found this Chocolate Banana recipe, but I not going to lie...I'm a little skeptical about it:

* 1 banana, overripe (frozen or not)
* 1/3-1/2 cup skim milk
* 1 tablespoon ovaltine (chocolate flavor)
* 2 teaspoons non-fat vanilla yogurt

And BLEND!

Please share some of your smoothie recipes :)

I’ve heard rave reviews about cranberries smoothies. I’ve never tried one, but here is a recipe I found. Ingredients: 1 cup cranberries 2/3 cup cran-raspberry juice (less, if this is too sweet for you, but I like it sweeter) 1 cup raspberries 8 oz of yogurt, preferably Raspberry 1 1/2 cups of ice Blend until smooth, give it a taste and decide if you need more ice or juice. Hope it is yummy!

My mother used to make this carrot/apple smoothie.  Using vegetables in smoothies is incredibly healthy, and the fruit helps make it more delicious/palatable.   The most important thing is to use as little artificial sugar as possible!

A little milk, ice, bannanas and almost any other fruit.

Yum!

Fresh strawberries, strawberry liqueur, and Barcardi Rum 100 proof, mix in blender with crushed ice to your personal taste.

Blueberries have "anti-oxidants" in them.

I'm not exactly sure what that means...

But, the berries sure taste good in a Smoothie.

Sounds good, as an alternative, try adding a banana, and to keep the calories down you could try replacing some of the juice with good old fashioned water.  You'll be surprised how much you don't notice the difference.

Actually, you don't necessarily need an overripe banana, but that will probably enhance the banana flavor.

You could substitute any Chocolate protein powder for the Ovaltine for more nutrition.  ( I use Shaklee brands).

If you use some ice with or without the yogurt, it will be good and frothy.

Not for the faint of heart, but quite yummy:

Roughly 1/2 cup of Spinach, 1/2 cup water, either fresh Mango or Mango sorbet 1/2 cup, a banana, 1/4 - 1/3 cup of pineapple, add crushed ice, and mix.  I only mention that its not for the faint of heart as it has spinach in it, but it is AWESOME.  Additionally you can add carrots and/or celery if you need additional vegetables in your diet.  Wouldn't add more than a 1/4 cup of either.

My kids at first were skeptical due to the color, but as they enjoy my smoothies, they gave it a shot.  They liked the original recipe the best, but said adding the carrots was drinkable.  :-)

Your right about the coloring though. It always looks greyish or green/black but smells excellent and tastes even more delicious! Cheers to your Health!!
