LockedNalgene's vs SIGG's vs ??

What are the pro's and con's for all of the water bottles out there? Are they just trends?

Are you a loyal user of a specific bottle?

Thanks for the help!

I used to use a Nalgene but I have recently switched to a Sigg. The biggest reason for my change was that I have read that is better environmentally and for the user to use an aluminum bottle instead of a plastic one. Even though it's a high quality bottle, Nalgene's are still made of plastic so some plastic leaking will occur, especially if you use the bottle at high or low temperatures. Plus the Sigg's don't spill your drink all over you because the mouth isn't as wide, although that does make putting ice in the bottle difficult. Caveats: Siggs are not nearly as indestructible as Nalgenes. Mine already is all scratched and dented. Also, you aren't supposed to let the liquid in a Sigg freeze, because the bottle will crack. But these are tradeoffs you must endure for a bottle that doesn't absorb ANY flavors or chemicals.

I also used to use a Nalgene and now use only SIGG. I switched not only because of the environmental impact but also because Nalgene (as are most plastic re-usable water bottles) are made out of harmful plastics that have been known to leech chemicals into one's drink. SIGG is all food grade material and the interior is coated so you don't have to worry about the fact that it's aluminum.

I agree with norcalmaier about the whole denting thing. We have 5 SIGGS and a couple have dented if they've been dropped while full but they've held up just fine other than that.

We use SIGG, also, although, I will take any aluminum bottle I can find that is cheaper!  Those SIGG's are expensive, but I know it is better than the plastic options.

Rather than aluminum or plastic, I'd recommend stainless steel. Aluminum has been linked with various cancers. Stainless steel can be sterilized, does not impart flavors to water, is non-reactive with acidic beverages, and is entirely non-toxic.
