I would recommend!

Hewlett Packard DV6675US Pavilion Notebook Computer —

Overall: Good/very good computer at a reasonable price. LOTS of great perks to computer (HP remote is a great!). I recommend uninstalling software right off the bat if you know you won't use it, there's always the reinstall CD if you really want to get a program back (note that this WILL in fact destroy any current software configurations- e.g. added software & files will be deleted); you have to purchase these for 15$ Good: The computer's got GREAT performance (screen looks sleek, very good hard drive size, RAM, bus speed/processor). It's got quite a few perks that are not surprising given the price of this laptop- a 1.3 megapixel camera (not good for much other than web chats); HP has gotten quite inventive and intuitive, adding powersaving software (much needed for screen like this, total battery time averaging > 3 hours), TV out & remote (*great for playing music while cooking, etc). Bad: Windows Vista is NOT user friendly eats up at least 2mb of ram (up to 3 or more), so the numbers (4MB included) look a lot better than would be expected with performance. RAM is also maxed out (*no expansion cards to make it faster). See "good" for mention of ReadyBoost. Since Vista is using consumers as beta-testers for it relatively new operating system, you will have to download massive amounts of Windows Vista updates & Windows Defender updates (depending on the software version). The graphics card isn't great, it's good to have some dedicated memory though so RAM is pretty efficiently used. Also, NO standard PCMIA expansion card slot! This was a little strange since I don't think that many people used the newer ones; there are ways around this though. It's just that if you're going to shell out all this money you should get something that works in more ways than one. The touchbad buttons are a little clunky as well, and the keyboard keys could be a little bigger (*especially delete, I have accidentally hit insert hundreds of times). Also, the TV tuner has to be purchased separately, but I don't use the laptop for tv, just movies & music.
