Homescan —

Scanning fo Homescan can sometimes be a nuisance, but I've noticed I've become more aware of what I pay for products and when prices increase. It also takes a REALLY long time to get enough points for the "good" prizes, but they are very nice prizes. I like having my opinion count and there are lots of surveys to take on many different types of products for even more points. All in all, I think it's worth my time, but anyone interested needs to be aware of the time (10-15 minutes on a big grocery trip) and commitment needed (you're supposed to scan EVERYTHING, even gas!) that goes along with being a panelist.

I think the people that get lots of points must make more purchases on non-essentials. We stick to bare bones purchases and get very few opportunities for surveys. When we purchased a digital camera and video recorder, all of a sudden we got LOTS of survey opportunities. Even though we scan and transmit every week, we've only saved up less than 40,000 points (and we haven't cashed in any points in over a year). When the best gifts cost well over 100,000 points, it's certainly not instant gratification.
