Hoosiers is a movie about a high school basket ball team, its players, coaches and other intertwined lives. It is set in an earlier day before Nike' and Reebok as evidenced by the P.F. Gene Hackman in his absolute prime. I'll follow Hackman anywhere in a movie! This inspirational movie is a sports classic. I love the suspense watching the team go through its tribulations. A great sports movie with so many emotional turns is hard to make but this is one of the greats in that genre.

the original

The forerunner to so many modern sports-formula movies, Hoosiers started and perfected the genre. The superb acting (Hackman, Hopper), the down-home genuineness of the setting and characters, the believable tension, and the wonderful score make this a film not to be missed.

Hoosiers

Hoosiers is probably one of the best sports movies made. It is much more than sports. It has lessons in acceptance, redemption and forgiveness. Gene Hackman does a great job as the coach looking for a second chance.
