The forerunner to so many modern sports-formula movies, Hoosiers started and perfected the genre. The superb acting (Hackman, Hopper), the down-home genuineness of the setting and characters, the believable tension, and the wonderful score make this a film not to be missed.
Hoosiers is probably one of the best sports movies made. It is much more than sports. It has lessons in acceptance, redemption and forgiveness. Gene Hackman does a great job as the coach looking for a second chance.
