Many people have complained about the engine not wanting to start and the primer not being an option.  This has been our solution to the problem.  My son was not able to get it to start again on just the second use.  My husband figured out that you have to give it one quick tug first to get the motor...

Purchased this mower last summer and only use it when I bag. My older mower with a Honda engine is reliable but doesn't bag well since it is getting older. Anyway, the Husqvarna was a nice mower but seems to lack the torque of the Honda.

This past weekend, I fueled and oiled all my yard equipment and...

Husqvarna 173cc 21" Kohler Rear Bag Front... Reviews

Displaying reviews 1 - 13 of 48 in total

I have used this lawnmower - Husqvarna 875 about 15 times over last summer and it has already destroyed 3 blades and 1 blade holding adapter.  At the end of last season I was cutting the yard and got within a few minutes of finishing and it hit a small mound of an ant hill and stopped.  When trying to restart it by the pull cord it has ripped the cord back out of my hand so hard that it left a bad blood blister on my hand the first time.  That is when I put the 3rd blade on it and tried to get it to work again and it does not work.  I am searching for anyone who can fix it.  I expect to find...

Buyer Be Ware! - I've been cutting grass a long time with a variety of mowers in my life. Despite the name brand and Kohler engine, this is NOT a good lawn mower. And, I will NEVER buy another Husqvarna as long as I live. Like many here, I researched and was going for a reputable name and quality, which has provided added frustration to my bad experience with this mower. I bought it in April '09 and it was in the shop within the first 2 months after cutting my avg. sized yard only 3 times. At first, it would not crank back up after emptying the bag unless I waited 20 - 30 minutes. Normally...

Great all around mower....

Well wasn't in a hurry to write this review but since there was a few negative comments i thought I would post a good one. First off got this mower a month or so ago. This thing has been amazing so far. Fires right up first pull every time. With the bagger on I haven't had anything bog it down.  Plowed right through deep wet grass around 8 inched tall with self propel at full speed.  Also mulches very well. To the last post about self propelled system not being strong enough for a incline the only answer I have is you just have a complete lemon. Sorry but it can happen to the best product or...

Piece of junk!!!!

Bought this 04/04/09 and had to take it in for service within the first month. Was in shop for a month and used it rest of the mowing season. Pull it out to use it this year and it will not start. Have tried everything I can think of. I even winterized it with fuel additive. So its going into the shop for the second time within one year and only being used about 3 months. I've had other mowers last 10 years with no maintenance. I buy a new one and have nothing but trouble out of it. When it did run it wouldnt pull itself up a small incline. I will not purchase another Husqvarna product or a front...

I purchased the Husqvarna 173cc with the Kohler engine, front propelled and rear bagger about 1 month ago.  I'm very satisfied with the mower so far.  Starting with a good price, to easy assembly, to the mower starting on the first pull!  It runs well.  The front propelled system is convienent and the cushioned handle helps cut down on vibration.  One drawback, I believe, in the design, is that the adjustable handle occasionally 'jumps' out of the frame track when turning the mower; causing a sudden drop in the handle and loss of handling during turning.  I'll probably try to rig up a spacer...

Had Mine for 7 months. Try owning one for a couple seasons, and you will hate it.  Like most reviews, of course it worked great out of the box, what wouldn't?  For those not new to lawnmowers,  this one has NO PRIMER button.  In order to cold start a lawnmower, simply press primer button 3 times to start.  There is NO primer and it will NOT start again.  The manual clearly states that if any work is to be done to the carburetor (Which is what the primer primes for start) it has to be done by a Kohler authorized repairist, or it voids warranty.  I baby my tools and mower, empty old gas and...

One would think that somewhere quality is still alive, didn't find it a Sears, brought mower in November on Sales, used twice, have to repair brok started spring, no stock at Sears, gave Sears my last $, no more..

I did a lot, and I mean a lot, of research before purchasing this mower.  $300 was about what I wanted to spend.  I'm sure you can spend more and get more, but this mower has everything a homeowner would want, in my opinion.  Ready to go right out of the box.  I wouldn't call it assembly, it took longer to fill it with gas, than assemble it.  Started on the first pull.  I borrowed a Toro Recycler to cut my grass a couple of times and it bogged down and the discharge chute clogged.  Not the Husqvarna.  This baby didn't miss a beat, and the grass is now thicker than ever.  I intentionally...

DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER

This mower is junk. Too heavy, poor propeller system, and worst of all, a very unreliable motor. I was very impressed with it out-of -box, started on first pull with a smooth running a fairly quiet Kohler engine. Soon came to know that it was the last time it ever stared on the first try. Finally gave up on it after stopping after 30 minutes of mowing, and needing 15 pulls to re-start it. This happened more  than once. Also, it will not mulch anything but the shortest grass under anything but the driest conditions. THe speed control handle is like a bear trap and if you have a lawn of any size...

Just returned this mower today. I have used it once a week since May 16th on a small yard. First mow was great. Then down hill from there. I will say the only thing it will do will is, it is really a first pull starting mower. There are a couple of really major problems that will trace back to the designers. The deck and the engine are not matched, as the propelling unit and engine share the same flaw.

1- The mower will propel faster then it will mow. This causes the grass to clamp up and clog the engine.

2-It will only mulch the lightest  of grass, more clogging.

3- Forget tiring to mow...

Mower came in a large box, oil was provided, was pretty easy to remove from box and set up. Kind of a pain to set up the motor kill cable, other than that no problems.  Added gas and oil and it started on the first pull.  Mowed average sized front and back yard, tank was still nearly half full when complete.  Used the bagger on the front yard and mulched the back yard (no bag).  Bag was easy to attach, take off and empty, no big deal.  Mulcher worked well, didn't see any weird bunch ups or extra grass clippings laying around on the lawn.

I have mowed the yard 3 times since purchasing a few...

***Update May 7 2011 Well today is the second time into sears service thank goodness it has a 2 year warranty.. It is now leaking gasoline from the air filter. Not sure why but I do see I am not the only one reportng this maybe this model needs a recall. New rating 1 star for Husqvarna lawnmower but 5 starts for sears for standing behind the product

Original review 5 stars

My old Craftsman Self Propelled transmission died and it was going to cost me around $200 to repair so out it went in the trash. I first bought the Snapper front wheel drive and assembled it and the the front wheel adjuster...
