The lawn mower work ok but the spark plug is in bad location and makes install and removal a problem.

Great mower for the money, before this purchase I had a Honda which I couldn't stand. Oh it was plenty quiet and oh yay I could use it in California but it would not cut even damp grass it would bog right down. I'll take some power and torque over the volume of the motor any day. I do my lawn every week and the grass was not high at all, I was so unhappy with it I gave it away just to see it gone. I've had a Husqvarna chainsaw for years so I gave this mower a try and happy I did. The fact that I bought a floor model (not used) from the prior year for 60 dollars also didn't hurt. Don't hesitate for a propelled mower this is the way to go. And just a FYI the Kohler engine is made in Kohler, WI not China.

Husqvarna 173cc 21" Kohler Rear Bag Rear Propelled Lawn Mower is a great lawn mower in my opinion, i have never had a problem starting it and it easy to use.it levels up and down with no problem.can't believe i found a mower that is no fuss ,no work.as long as i take care of it and keep it clean after i cut the grass.yay for me =)

So far so good...I do not know who makes the Husq's mowers but if they are anything like the chainsaws I know I've got a winner! It started on the 1st pull after adding oil /gas, only ran a few minutes, so will update this when I actually cut the yard in about a week; until then: PRO's - quiet seems strong enough reminds me a bit of a Toro CON's - reminds me a bit of a Toro...

Just tried out my new mower and I am very impressed. The engine is starts very easily and has the necessary power. The mower feels very solid and I feel that it will last quite awhile. The bagger is a bit small but nothing that cant be dealt with. Also as others have written, the trigger to propel the mower will give you a little work out. I personally enjoy the excercise, but this could be a problem for some. Overall I am very satisfied with this mower.

i really ended up falling in love with this lawn mower. i never can wait until the weekend to cut the grass. even in the winter i always get excitted because i can wait until i get to mow my grass again.

i just love the fact that it has a rear bag. that comes in handy because i use to hate my old lawn mower because it would always shoot back out the grass that i just cut. then i would end up having to rake my lawn afterwards. now i get to skip one step and i get to take the bag off and put the grass cuttings into a bag.

I bought this at my local Sears store on sale (clearance) for a heck of a price so I can't really complain. I've paid up to $350.00 for similar lawn mowers in the past so I felt I was getting a good deal.

Fresh out of the box, it was easy to setup and get it running. Comes with an optional attachment that allows the mower to be used as a mulcher. Also comes with a warning tag to fill the engine compartment with the proper oil and level before starting. A small bottle of oil came supplied so they made it convenient.

Love the color, quality, look and feel of the mower. Engine is strong, yet fairly quiet. Comes with a "choke" feature that does the job. I've seen better choke features on other mowers but this one suffices. Filled the gas tank (large capacity too!) with 91 octane unleaded. First attempt at starting it took 3 pulls, but once it got started, the engine came to life. I highly recommend 91 octane gas for your mower. The engine runs smoother and better. It's...

Very Unhappy!

The first season, never started on the first pull. It was used 4 months on a small lawn. This season it did not want to start and the pull handle broke (cheap plastic), luckily under warranty I sent it for service through sears, it came back and still didn't start, the guy said it needed gas so I went home and gassed it up... still nothing.s oI had to drive back yet again. Sent it for service again, came back and worked but the second week it took 8 pulls to run. I put it in the truck and demanded a return (not fun or easy but he gave in), once returned I went to ********** and bought a Honda for 399. Starts great and cuts awesome. Buy a husky if you need a chainsaw not this lump of metal.

I purchased a Craftsman 22" Rear Wheel Drive mower in June to replace an old Craftsman with similiar features. I was so disappointed with the rear wheels locking up in reverse and how they stick out about two inches beyond the cutting deck (making it impossible to cut near fences and trees). Finally, the variable speed system took a lot of effort to get it going. I exchanged it for this Husqvarna today and gave it a try. WOW!!! RIght out of box it was one pull (no priming on this model) and off to work. The engine was surprisingly powerful in thick, tall fescue (Kohler XT-7), I love the angled and large gas opening, and the variable speed rear wheel drive will literally spin the wheels from a stop if you give it everything. I ran the bagger first and it performed exceptionally well. Then I tried the side discharge in some very thick, tall fescue. Engine never slowed at full speed and the cutting was flawless. Finally, and to my biggest surprise, I closed it up to test...

I live in Florida with St Augustine grass. It grows fast and is thick. I use the self-mulcher and do not bag the grass.

Here's the low down:

1. Self propulsion. Though a larger back wheel would enhance the ease of movement. It allowed for my lawn to be cut in 35 minutes vs 2 hours with a push. (<1/4 acre)

2. Quality. Get's 95% of the blades, I rarely have to go over.

3. Reliability: For the first three months. Worked like a beauty (I won't go into the other four lawn mowers it took to get this thing right). Carboratuer went bad, had to be replaced. Sears does stand behind their warranty. Now we're in July 2010. Less than a year later. Main gas line has slight crack in it and leaking. I don't know if it is my fuel or the engine, but after sitting (with fuel stabilizer) for just one week I have to drain the main gas tank and line... the fuel cup... and make sure the piston has good movement. After doing that no problems. Next week.. rinse and repeat. It's getting really old. I am going to...

This is the mower I bought a couple yrs ago. I love it. Now that said,This mower when I bought it had the briggs motor. Starts on first pull. Has adjustable speed control. Cuts great. Why husqvarna put a chinese motor on this unit and messed it up is just bad business if you ask me. I'm sure kohler is getting them built thier so cheap they are selling them to husqvarna for penny's. This deck with a briggs is a great setup. If you can find it with that engine I would strongly recomend getting it. With the china kohler on it ,well' best of luck.

I previously owned a Murray 21" mower with rear wheel drive. When the rear wheel drive stopped working (the 3-speed transmission failed), it was too heavy to push around.

This USA built 21" Husqvarna/Kohler mower is very light and that is what I like the best! With the variable speed lever, I can adjust the mower speed as necessary, and the amazing thing with this mower is that I don't have to use the power drive half the time. I can actally mow my entine lawn without the power assist, inspite of the fact that my back yard is a hill! The mower is light but not cheap! The mower is solidly built, and the engine is commercial class. Auto choke and no priming are great.

The only thing I don't like is the small catch bag for the clippings. It could be 50% larger to be more useful.

I have read many reviews but never written one, This case deserves it

Had more or less made up my mind on this mower from others reviews and the fact that it is American Made. After doing some shopping and comparing the other brands seemed chincy. I purchased this model, spent a little more than planned but after using it the extra money was well worth it. Assemblly was a snap, fired right up it did stutter a bit for a few (expected) then ran great. Single height adj. is sweet, variable speed is sweet (any faster you would be speed walking) even at full speed it went through very heavy grass without any bogging at all. Cut both front and back on a single tank of gas which has never happened before. I believe I made a good choice.

I purchased this mower recently to replace a 33" Billy Goat Commercial Zero-Turn walk-behind. Prior to that I had a Cub Cadet 21" Zero-Turn with a Kawasaki 173cc engine for 7 years. Didn't need the 33" anymore and was looking for a lighter mower that had the power to mulch, was durable and priced right. This Husky seems to be the perfect choice. I have a decent size lawn and this mower really flies. The Kohler engine is quiet yet plenty powerful and mulches the grass vey well. I have a very thick lawn and my Cub Cadet would bog down and leave a lot of clumps behind. Not this mower. Out of the box it was too easy to set up. Took about 5 minutes to unfold the handle, tighten it down and add the oil.

Overall the quality seems very good and the mower is pretty light for a self-propelled model. I think the ball bearings (rare) help in the wheels too as it pushes easily even without the drive engaged. Does not use much gas either. I like the bagging system as...

I started using this mower at the beginning of the season, and it has outperformed my expectations. The adjustable speed propulsion system and the Kohler engine make mowing my lawn easy! It can power through tall grass with ease, but the bag is on the small side and needs to be emptied frequently if the grass is long.

Putting the machine together was simple and staright foward. Also, I have never needed to pull the cord more then twice. In fact the mower started on the first pull today even though it was about 45F here in Michigan today! The Husky is well worth the money.

Well, I did my research. It came down to this mower and the Toro and am very happy to make this selection. I never owned a Husqvarna anything previously. My previous mower was a Craftsman and like the previous craftsman - lasted for only 4 years as the self propelled gradually went to one front wheel and with my move from Oklahoma (Bermuda, clay/loam soil) to Corpus Christi (St Augustine and sandy soil), it was necessary to get a new mower. Here in Texas, the Craftsman was effectively a pushmower, so I retired it. When I buy something, I research the heck out of it. This Husqvarna is what I want in a mower. The rear wheel drive is much, much better than the front as I have been used to over the years. And, I figure with the belt pully drive system---is much user friendly to replace the belt when necessary instead of those cheap sealed Craftsman propel units that you cannot do a **** thing about. I received this lawnmower as a birthday present since our old Murray had died. I thought about going with Honda since my dad has one, but they were a little bit more expensive and didn't offer a true side discharge. So after doing some research I found this lawn mower. I was drawn to it by the Husqvarna name and also the fact it had a Kohler OHV engine which are widely known for being excellent quality.

When I first mowed my yard it had been close to two months since it was mown. The grass was to high ankle level. The Husqvarna started on the first pull and easily took care of the long grass without a problem. The engine is powerful and quiet, everything I hoped it would be. The dual rear wheel drive works great even in long or damp grass, much better than typical single front wheel drive units.

Overall I am EXTREMELY happy with this mower. It has everything you will need and I now have about 20 hours of mowing on it and I have not had any trouble and it starts on the first pull every time....
