Jameson Tavern - Freeport, ME —

The Jameson Tavern Restaurant is nestled in the quiet town of Freeport, Maine right across the street from the anchor-store of LLBean. The restaurant is actually an old New England farmhouse which brags about being the birthplace of Maine and by golly it is!!. This is where the paperwork was signed which separated Maine from Massachusetts. So you can dine at a registered historical site. The food is quite scrumptious, but a tad pricey. However anywhere you go in the this locale is the same except for the few fast food places around. I liked the food so much that I ate there at least three times during my eight day stay along the coast of Maine. I had one of those yummy lobsters (see pic) before it grabbed my nose and toes with those claws. The restaurant has both a bar area (you can eat there too) and a quaint dining area. The servers are quite friendly and pleasant. Maine is mainly no smoking, but they do have an outside dining area for those who do smoke. Not many folks were outside at this time of the year cause it was a bit cold. The food is quite hearty and tasteful and I highly recommend you dine here if you spend any time along the southern coast of Maine.
