Jet Blue Airways —

I decided to start flying JetBlue after I had read an article about them in Consumer Reports. The magazine rated them highly, and rightly so. My mother became terminally ill and I was flying back and forth from DC to San Diego quite frequently. In the past year I flew about six times on the airline and now make it my first choice. Check in was always fast. They still allow you two checked bags without the extra fees, which was necessary for me when I'd go on month long trips. They have started asking customers to bring their own headsets for the tv's now to cut down on trash going into landfills. They still offer free headsets if you don't have your own but they would prefer you use your own. The crew was always friendly, they offered drinks and snacks- which other airlines stopped doing. Since I was mostly a last minute purchaser I was afraid of falling victim to high fares but their fares were much more reasonably priced for all the services they offered in comparison to competitors. The extra legroom is great. I'm short but I could tell a big difference. My husband, who is six foot two, was skeptical when he first flew  about this extra legroom but was very satisfied when he saw it did exist. He didn't have the leg cramping on longer trips like he used to or have to push his knees into the seat in front of him to keep the seat from reclining and putting pressure on his knees. I did travel with my small dog a few times and everything went smoothly and was about twenty five dollars cheaper than other airlines. The only annoying thing about that was there was no way to tell if a flight had reached its maximum capacity for pets before you bought your ticket online. Only once when I called to reserve my dog's spot did I have to switch flights and they did not charge me for switching flights. If you fly across country I highly recommend signing up for their True Blue program to earn frequent flyer miles and booking online to double your points. However, the points do expire one year later unless you get their american express credit card. But if you are close to your hundred points you can purchase points now - they do tack on a twenty dollar transaction fee. I did this so I could get my free round trip before my points expired.I did have one "bad" flight, my plane was delayed due to fog, but then again all other planes were delayed too, and sat on the runway for about an hour an a half. Also, to make things worse the TV's weren't working. To make up for this the airline issued the whole flight fifty dollar vouchers for the inconvience. One time they thought they were having this issue again but it cleared up mid-flight and despite this they gave us the in-flight movies for free. It is this type of behavior that makes it easy for me to give them a five star rating. I've flown other airlines and their crew and customer service people don't care enough to keep their customers- loyal or not- happy.
