“GREAT SERVICE”
I purchased a Gas Grill about 4 years ago with a service plan that I had just renewed. It was a 5 burner Stainless Steel Sears Kenmore gas grill. Since I use the grill thru the entire year, it needed some work done. The inside was rusting out ( stainless ?) and the burners were not lighting properly. I called the Sears service center to set up at at home service call. I explained the problem and the person I spoke to said I did not need a service call, she would send me the grate and a couple other parts. When I received the parts they were not all sent, but I already had the grill apart and noticed a few other parts were corroded. I called again, explained the wrong parts and order new parts. Well the wrong parts came. This was now going on 4-5 weeks in the beginning of the summer. It took me 5 times of ordering parts and calling ( once I was sent 5 brass side burners) . My wife's birthday was coming up and we always have a cook out. They finally sent someone to my home, he did not have the burner's, so he ordered then and had them shipped direct to me. Well the wrong size burners came. Again I cook on the grill all year, now going on about 8 weeks in the summer without a grill. I had enough, I went to my local Sears store and spoke to a manager it was the day before my wives Birthday. I explained the situation and the Manager APOLOGIZED for the service and issues that I had. Without another word she walked around the floor, spotted a 5 Burner Stainless Steel grill and asked me if I liked it. I said yes, and she said bring your old one in and we will have this ready for pick up. I was flabbergasts, I had never expected a new grill, I was only looking for someone to help me get my old grill fixed. Her name is Maggie Mayor , she is the garden center manager at the Waterford Ct. store. I have told this story to as many friends as I can. I know of a couple that went a bought lawn tractor's for sears vs ********** because of this and I am sure that others have now purchased an appliance or a large items at Sears because of Maggie. I have gone back since and will continue to buy from Sears, thanks to folks like Maggie.
