Kenmore 1/2 hp Food Waste Disposer Reviews

I recently remodeled my home and decided to install a garbage disposer. After shopping around I found this disposer at my local sears and couldn't buy one this large (HP) for the same price. Having used it for several months now I can say that I am very happy with how it performed. There are only two things I wish they would do differently. One is to include a power cord with the disposer. And the second is to include a straight outlet as well as a 90. Other than those small details I am quite happy with my disposer

First of all, I'd like to say this disposer works really well; I am really happy with it.

Please be aware that the installation instructions are laughable; they have a person installing the new one before removing the old one. I had to read through everything a couple of times before I understood exactly what I needed to do. 

 I was a little worried about installing it myself, because I am not a particularly strong woman, and I know they can be extremely heavy. I found the trick, however. I had to lay down on my back and push the disposer up into place. It worked just fine, and I had no problems....

I just installed this on 6/25/2010 and it is a GOOD disposer for the money. If you are just putting small food fragments, ice, peels as the instructions state, you will be fine.  I am a relatively handy person and if you use common sense in dismantling the old one, then the new one will fit the same sink hardware. (if you are purchasing the same model #). One thing the instruction should tell you but doesn't, is that upon reinstalling the disposer, grab it in the palms of your hands around the flange of the disposer while lying on your back and it will be ever so easier to twist and insert into...

We just bought our house back in October, and we've had several items break since we moved in...one of which was our garbage disposal unit we had.  With 4 kids we had to get a new disposal unit ASAP...and luckily we found this one on sale at SEARS.  They had the unit in stock, which was awesome, so we picked it up and installed it at our house.  The install was simple enough to do on our own (still took roughly an hour or so since we're not plumbers...but we got it done), the directions included in the box were exact, and the disposal unit now works great!  For the price this is definitely...

The garbage disposal was easy to install doing it myself.  I only wish that the store both online and in person at pick up would have told me that I needed to purchase an electric cord to go along with it.  Being a first timer doing this installation, I didn't know about that and had to make a second trip.  But besides that the product was easy to install and works great.

I had to replace an inferior garbage disposal made by another company that lasted about 5 years, Big Mistake. I knew I should have stayed with my standby Kenmore and Sears, who stands behind their products. Their salesperson had the insight to sale me the needed electrical cord so I wouldn' t have to return to purchase before installation. 

This garbage disposal does not have all the plastic that the other model I had and I am sure that it will last many years before needing replacing; plus I purchased the additional home warranty.  Thank you Sears.

I picked up this unit and installed it about 2 months ago.  Installing the mount and disposer took about an hour and it works great so far.  It is not the quietest thing in the world but you're not paying for a lot of insulation and who cares it is on for 30 seconds a day.  I am impressed for the price and for 1/2 hp it has plenty of power.

I bought this disposer to replace another 1/2 hp unit about 2-years ago.   I could not find anything cheaper in a 1/2 hp unit.  It's quieter and has performed well without any problems.  It certainly has enough power for typical homeowner use.  

This is a great garbage disposal.  Easy to install and very effective.

I picked up this unit and installed it about 1 1/2 months ago.  Installing the mount and disposer took about 45 minutes and it works great so far.  It is not the quietest thing in the world but you're not paying for a lot of insulation and who cares it is one for 1 minute a couple times a day.  I am impressed for the price and for 1/2 hp it has easily handled anything I have put done there. 

This Kenmore appliance meets expectations and is a good value for the price.  1/2 hp motor provides ample power, however is slightly noisy.  I also have stainless sinks so this may add to the noise. 

Store clerk was very helpful, and basic instructions for installation were all that was needed.  Note this model comes with the 'wrenchette' so one is not needed.  Dishwasher connector was easy and the power connection (hard-wire) is on the bottom. 

If you are looking for a good value, easy to install and provides quality Kenmore performance, this will work for you.
