Kenmore 10,000 BTU Single Room Air Conditioner — 

This is the best ac available. It is the most quiet unit on the market(checked with a sound meter). The front grill is a bit thin but if you put white electrical tape under the grill and filter door it is very quiet. I sleep 3 feet from the window and it has to be quiet. I tossed a new Haier because it was so loud. I wish ac's had a sound rating in db, it would make shopping easier.

I live in an old farmhouse with big rooms. We don't have central heat/air, so we depend on room air conditioners. The 5000 BTU was not cutting it, so I was pleasantly surprised that there is a 10000 BTU and I plan to get it. Thanks for these reviews.
