Kenmore 10,000 BTU Single Room Air Conditioner — 

I had a 12,000 BTU AC in the same room (which opens to two other rooms) and it did a great job but after almost 20 years it simply needed to be replaced. I temporarily used a 6000 BTU AC but it just couldn't cool off the space. I bought this one and it has been great, the 10,000 BTU easily doing the same job the old 12,000 unit did in it's prime. We haven't used it too often as it hasn't been that hot but it cools off the entire space in a few minutes. When it's really cranking it can be a little loud but it's worth the trade off and once the room cools which again is quickly, you can turn it down and it's not loud at all and it maintains the lower temps. I didn't bother with installing any brackets, just put a block of wood at the top of the window so it can't move up and it's been fine, so it was an easy install.
