I had looked everywhere, online, the newspapers, the chain stores [BB,WM,K,etc] for a GOOD, QUALITY ,QUIET room AC. I have always leaned toward whirlpool. I had an 8000btu whirlpool for the last 3years in my 200sq foot bedroom. i bought it used [3yrs old] and I pulled it out of the window every fall,... read full review »

I have to admit, I'm really surprised by all the 5-star reviews. To be honest, the unit does cool extremely well. However, the build on this unit is just too cheap to imagine the unit lasting for more than a two or three years. The front cover snaps on and the prongs used for the snap are very easily... read full review »

This is the best ac available. It is the most quiet unit on the market(checked with a sound meter). The front grill is a bit thin but if you put white electrical tape under the grill and filter door it is very quiet. I sleep 3 feet from the window and it has to be quiet. I tossed a new Haier because it was so loud. I wish ac's had a sound rating in db, it would make shopping easier.

I don't usually take time to comment; however, I relied on your opinions when choosing this unit, so I must reciprocate. I have an office that houses 6 Internet servers. When we lose power briefly, the previous Haier unit would not cycle back on, so the room was left to cook. This unit, the Kenmore, is quiet and is an amazing power sipper. In Economy Mode, it cools and turns off. I keep the door closed, not worrying about whether the heat will build up if the power fails for a moment and the unit should turn off. Not with this unit. Unplug it and it remembers where it was when power was lost.... read full review »

I had a 12,000 BTU AC in the same room (which opens to two other rooms) and it did a great job but after almost 20 years it simply needed to be replaced. I temporarily used a 6000 BTU AC but it just couldn't cool off the space. I bought this one and it has been great, the 10,000 BTU easily doing the same job the old 12,000 unit did in it's prime. We haven't used it too often as it hasn't been that hot but it cools off the entire space in a few minutes. When it's really cranking it can be a little loud but it's worth the trade off and once the room cools which again is quickly, you can turn it down... read full review »

Ordered this unit from Sears.com on 9/5/08, and it was set to arrive on 9/11/08, just one day before Hurricane Ike was to hit. Called Customer Service at the 800# on the 11th, and they scared me when they gave me the impression it was delayed and would not arrive until 9/17/08, but it showed up on time, and I installed it that night. Worked great with the generator while our power was out after the hurricane, and provides quiet cooling to our master bedroom now, without have to run the central air all night.

I brought this unit for my bedroom and one for my daughter's room, back when the temperature first started to hit 90 degrees, so I've had some time to get to know my unit very well!! I couldn't be more pleased with her. This is one bad girl!!! She keeps my room not cool, but COLD which is the way I like it!!! I have mine set on the timer, so when I leave out in the morning it comes back on before I arrive home from work; The Energy saver function and the fan system is a great option too, the unit kicks back on before my room get too hot (which we don't want) in addition to, being able to have the... read full review »

This is one of the quietest window unit airconditioners I've ever heard. They even went as far as padding and insulating every corner to stop those annoying vibrations common to window unit airconditioners. Especially the plastic front fascia - even that doesn't vibrate! Highly recommend. Great efficiency numbers as well!

Yes, it cools the room nicely. Yes, the fan option, energy saver and timer are all good. Bottom line, if you're considering this unit for a room that you'd prefer to be quiet... like, say maybe a bedroom, you may want to rethink this unit. I've had mine for two years now, and now it makes such a racket that some nights it will wake me up - or keep me awake. Other reviewers have mentioned the poor quality of this unit and I agree. Everything rattles. Right now I have the front cover in the down/open position all the time, because that rattled. I had to take out the filter because that rattled. The... read full review »

This IS the best A/C unit that I have ever purchased. I have it installed in a vinyl replacement window, which took a little modification, but it fits fine. Some of the other reviews say that the unit is noisey. If yours is noisey, you do not have it installed correctly. This is the most quiet unit that I have ever seen. The energy saver function is great. It is cooling 2 bedrooms and doing a great job. I do not typically endorse products, however, this unit deserves it. Great value and performance. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone searching for an extremely quiet and energy efficient... read full review »

I purchased two of these units this spring 2009 and totally recommend you consider it. An unexpected heat wave in April 2009 proved how well these units work. I've always had cooling problems because of floor plan but can now not panic over this coming summer's heat for first time. Price is half what I've paid in the past. These units work better than any I've had before. Noise level is fine.

I was told these were quiet and bought 2. The first one went in easy and was great. The second had the loud noise of the Fan hitting the fan casing and brought it back- the second one did the same- went back again and we opened 2 other with the noise and then got a good one. I love the ones I got but there needs to be increase in quality check out of the factory on the fan and housing.

We built our house 11 years ago and recently finished the bonus room above the garage. The current central air unit has a problem cooling the new room. We added the Kenmore 75101 last night to the room and what a difference! The unit is quite and will put the cool air out. The features are excellent. I would recommend this unit without hesitation.

i had expected so much more from kenmore but this has sent up the red flags on future kenmore/sears purchases for me. while i have a large size one bedroom apartment, and the unit seems to work fine, i am dissappointed in the workmanship, to say the least. the grille and it's makeup are of the poorest shabbiest quality. i don't think the vent controls could be any cheaper and the grille itself has hinges for opening to check/change the filter, and they aren't much bigger than the lead in a pencil. these are expected to last the life of the appliance?! i don't think so. if this is of cheapest quality,... read full review »

The theory of this may be good, but the fan and motor house are all soft plastic. The steel case is so thin you can deform it with your hand. When I installed it, there was a loud sound from inside as if some part of the fan motor were banging on the housing, internally. Compared to the many Sears air conditioners we've had, this one seems to be built to be disposable. I can't imagine putting it in and taking it out of a window every year. It would just fall apart.
