Kenmore 11,500 BTU Slider/Casement Air Conditioner — 

So, this is my third LG Casement window AC unit in 5 years. The first one's compressor died within 3 years, but I blame my house wiring on that one. I had that corrected. $700 gone. I purchased this model two years ago, and the electical fan's bearing's "howled" after one year of use. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. $300 Gone (I bought it from another retailer). So, I bought this one from Sears (LG rebranded as a Kenmore), and bought the full in house repair warranty for five years. That added $200 to the bill. $700 again for AC, makes it expensive.. but I had a feeling I was going to be using the warranty. And I was right.. the fan motor is seized up after sitting over the winter. Luckily, Sears stands behind their products and I am sure they will repair/replace the unit. As an additional note, I use this unit a LOT. I am always circulating air from the outside to the inside with the fan (9 months out of the year..), and the AC is running for about 6 - 7 of those months. It cools a converted attic.
