I'm very conscious of saving energy, and this Kenmore air-conditioner keeps my home cool on the hottest days of summer yet offers money-saving settings that keep the costs manageable. I waited years to get an air-conditioner, but I'm glad I finally decided to stop sweating the hottest days of summer....

Shopped Sears online last night and found this unit, which is the only window unit that would fit my windows. Drove over to Sears at 8:00 PM in 93 degree weather, purchased this unit at full price. The box was strapped like a new product, however, after I hoisted it out of my car, onto a dolly and wheeled...

Kenmore 11,500 BTU Slider/Casement Air Conditioner Reviews

Displaying reviews 1 - 13 of 46 in total

Bought this unit a couple of days ago. It's a work horse! I bought it in desperation because of the recent heatwave. I live in an A frame home with large windows that are in direct sunlight all day long. It is currently trying to cool 800+ sq ft. including what is going into our basement. It has done a very good job! It doesn't stay cold in here but it's keeping the humidity down. I have another 12000 Btu portable in the mail to take care of the cold issue.  It's easy to install. At this point I have no complaints as the ice cold air blows on me as I type this review. AWESOME!!!

These air conditioners are perfect fits for the port holes on our ship.  We currently have 6 of them mounted in offices and staterooms to supplement our regular AC. When the ship's AC unit has a problem these units are real life savers.

On 5/07/2010, I purchased online this AC in good faith. It started off that UPS delivered the product late, and the box that contained the product was damaged, and obviously repacked and taped to begin with. Once the box was open, the screws and bracket assemblies were out of their orginal packaging containers, the bottom, the weatherproofing had been used and repackaged, and the lower rt corner of this unit cracked aas well as other defects were noted. It was very obvious that this unit had been sent to someones house before, they didn't like it, and returned it to Sears. So in essence, I had...

Yeah, that's cool!

The Kenmore 11500 BTU Casmement Window AC unit makes all the difference on these hot muggy Indiana summer days! We live in a 1 bedroom apartment building built in 1929 that has the swing-out casement style windows. Summer days with the sun beating in are murder without some kind of cooling solution. We had to improvise and construct a wooden support structure in order to install this unit. Once that was done and we turned the unit on, the cool air started gushing out. What a relief! Not only does it cool the apartment down to near-chilly levels on 89 degree days, it also reduces humidity down from...

Cool Summer-Finally!

We have a brick tudor that was built in 1929. In the summer it can get quite hot. However, to install central air would be a very costly expense. In the main room there are hinged windows that normally would not be able to contain an air conditioner. We do have one small window that I kept looking at and finally measured and the dimensions were good to go. So, we purchased this unit. Installed it quickly and it works amazingly well! Our entire first floor is cooled! We have a regular window unit in the kitchen (10500 btu), so between the two it has been heaven. I love the look of this unit, which... read full review »

Good performer

I have an 800sq ft cabin that sits atop poles (in the flood plain of a creek). This is a heating and cooling challenge due to the fact that the floor faces the same kind of exposure as the walls. The cabin has full afternoon sun exposure and gets toasted in the summer heat. Anyway, I installed two of these units and use a pair of small floor fans to keep the air circulating throughout the cabin. The units run smoothly and effectively cool and dehumidify the cabin to whatever temp. I set them too. My only beef at all is with the extra money you pay for a slider unit such as this. If you are thinking... read full review »

Cool and Quiet

I purchased a portable air-conditioner a couple of years ago and while it cools the bedroom nicely it never quite cooled the living/dining area, which is a continuous space separated by an archway. Some of my neighbors have casement air conditioners, and I noticed their apartments were cool and comfortable in the Summer. I was inspired to buy this unit due to a deferred financing and discounted-price offer and, most importantly, because of the record heat wave we're having here. Although the product description is for a slider/casement window, I was able to fit it nicely (with a bit of ingenuity)... read full review »

Great while it lasted.

So, this is my third LG Casement window AC unit in 5 years. The first one's compressor died within 3 years, but I blame my house wiring on that one. I had that corrected. $700 gone. I purchased this model two years ago, and the electical fan's bearing's "howled" after one year of use. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. $300 Gone (I bought it from another retailer). So, I bought this one from Sears (LG rebranded as a Kenmore), and bought the full in house repair warranty for five years. That added $200 to the bill. $700 again for AC, makes it expensive.. but I had a feeling I was... read full review »

A Saving Grace

Okay. Our house, which is great, was built as a custom home by someone who was into contemporary design but at the same time was a "naturalist" or something. Anywho, we ended up with this gorgeous contemporary with tall casment windows and no air conditioning. We fougt the heat for several years, but with a new baby, we knew we needed AC no matter the cost. I just on a whim did a search and stumbled across these units. We ordered a 6,000 for our bedroom, and loft area, a 11,500 for our great room, and our kitchen window was wide enough for a standard unit. Anyway, installation was a "breeze" they... read full review »

LOVE it

This is perfect for California summers. I really like the digital temperature control. It was easy to install by myself even though the directions are a bit unclear. I cannot comment on how noisy it is since I am Deaf. If you need a casement unit this one is awesome!

2nd try was a charm

Vertical window sliders limited our choices for AC units and, since we had a Sears card, figured we could use the special finance rates for appliances. So off to the Appliances Dept. at Sears to get this 11,500 BTU unit for our living room/dining room. However, the sales person told us that AC units did not qualify for the special Sears card financing since they are not considered appliances. Due to the limited availability of vertical AC units, we bit the bullet, although the mandatory restocking fee for any AC returns did cause trepidation. A solid installation definitely requires hardware skills... read full review »

Better then I had hoped!

I had read about the instal nightmares... but mine was done by a Sears rep, went flawlessly and took under an hour. It was a bit more pricey since I got the 5 year warrenty but now I feel it was money WELL spent. Sears even comes out once a year to service the unit before Summer. The unit is whisper quiet, good looking, easy to read and the remote control is a blessing! You have several settings and fan speeds to pick from and it cools (the entire point of the thing) quickly and like units that are much bigger. Do yourself a favor if you live in SoCal... do not go through another summer without... read full review »
