“OK unit once it's setup”

Kenmore 12,000 BTU Multi-Room Air Conditioner — 

Slide in design is MUCH easier and safer to handle than traditional window units, particularly in a 20th floor apartment over a busy street. Runs reasonably quiet, cools well. I always buy a unit double the suggested size as manufacturers tend to overstate cooling claims. This enables me to run the unit on a low setting most of the time and reduce noise and to run full force on hot days or when first returning home to cool quickly. Mediocre installation instructions; awful grill/vent assembly quality. Easy and obvious controls do not require any manuals. Very highly rated by Consumer Reports so I assume there's some redemption in hot summer months to come. Sears is great with parts and service--even years after models are discontinued so the flimsy grill can be overlooked if it remains intact and without rattles.
