Kenmore 12,000 BTU Multi-Room Air Conditioner —
Do not order this unit online for shipping by UPS. The one I received was completely destroyed. It was missing the whole front control unit, the case was dented/smashed, the fins were mashed, there was no window mounting hwd kit/side curtains and the big elec. plug had smashed thru the fins and cut one of the cooling lines in half. There is way too little packing material in box and believe this item was a returned one to begin with. Took it to local store and asked for one in brand new unopened box. Return worked well and be sure and have packing slip w/return number along with online receipt. New one had all parts and in good shape. Installed in 2nd story window with old style alum storm windows which made it difficult. The plastic drain plug you have to install in back/bottom of case is a bear to get in. Even put Vaseline on it and had to pound it in. Mounting brackets that are big bolts that rest on window sill are poor design and can scar the outside window sill. Used brackets from 12 year old Kenmore and worked great. If window frames are deep, like in old house here, the front bottom rest in some on the inside sill. This causes filter door to bind if trying to open. Poor workmanship on the inside part of case since 1/4" wider at bottom than top. Prevented the whole plastic front from lining up and snapping on correctly. The good news? After 1/2 day install the unit works great. It is very quiet, plenty of cool air, thermostat and power saver seems to work well. Much better power usage then my old AC. Good luck!Kenmore 12,000 BTU Multi-Room Air Conditioner
