this air conditioner is a good deal. very quiet, the only thing I would like changed would be the monitoring, it comes on every four or five minutes to check the air, Its not  that annoying so, I would not let this be a deal braker.

“Great unit, fairly quiet, worth the money”

 

I purchased this unit after reading lots of reviews and trying to figure out the best size for my space.  It is in a 450 sq ft guest house built inside of a metal shop building with all walls and ceilings fully insulated and sheet rocked.  The unit defiantly can handle the space and keeps the area cool or cold (depending on how low I have it set).  As for pros/cons:

Installation - Pretty straight forward.  I have metal frame windows with brick ledges so the instructions were just a guideline.  I did appreciate the slide out of the unit so all that is left is the shell, which makes it much...

Not as cold as the old kenmore we took out that was 25-30 yrs old, but it is very quiet, I wouldn't say it was for multi rooms, it does cool our family really nice..

“Not what I expected”

Based on the ratings I expected a better product. The first obstacle I encountered was the front cover. It would not clip on. I had to bend the metal housing in the clip areas so it would align properly with the front cover. It still did not attach very securely but so far it has not fallen off. Very Very cheap. Next I noticed there was no grill to cover the aluminum fins on the outside. No pictures in the book to verify. I called Sears and they said there was suppose to be a grill and they sent me one. “Multi Room 12,000 BTU Unit”

I had a 12,000 Frigidaire in my apartment 530 sq ft. Since it was new it was so noisy that I had to put my TV on MAX to even hear it a little bit. Hard to sleep with as well because of noise. My across the hall neighbor recommended Sears/Kenmore and said he'd had them for years and they were quiet. I rolled the dice and purchased 1 12,000 multi room for my apartment and 1 for my new office. Both units installed easily and are extremely quiet. And guess what? They cool really really well. I am very happy with the (2) purchases. So now I'm Cool Pete!

“Cools well, but could have used more thought in sealing”

I bought this Sears 12,000 BTU A/C to replace a 39 year old GE that finally lost its Freon.

I bought it at our local Sears store and carried it home myself. My unit arrived in good condition. I got a neighbor to help move it from the car to the house and to do the final installation of the inner unit into the installation sleeve. Don't try to move this unit alone; it's not that heavy, but it's too wide for one person to lift.

I found that the hardware and instructions were adequate, but I'm much more of a DIYer than average. I found a few faults with this design.

“Works OK - Not Real Quiet”

I mounted this unit in a window in a 20x20 workshop and it works fine. I also bought a 7,800 btu unit which is mounted in a separate room off the workshop. See my review of it for a comparison of noise levels. A sound level meter was placed 8' in front of this A/C, slightly below the air register. With the FAN ONLY running it measured 62 dB on low, 63 dB on medium and 64 dB on high. With the compressor running it measured 65-66 dB. I HAD A 8000 BTU WHIRLPOOL A/C AND IT BURNED OUT AFTER ONLY 4 YEARS OF NORTH EAST PA.SUMMERS. NOT ALOT OF USE. I MOVED HERE TO MARTINSBURG W.V. ABOUT 10 DEGREES HOTTER AND MORE HUMID. I READ POSITIVE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MODEL AND IT LEAD ME TO BUY THIS ONE. IT HAS BEEN INSTALLED FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS IN A 1400 SQ. FOOT RANCH HOME PRETTY WELL INSULATED. “Amazing Product!”

I live in a single level ranch home (3 bedrooms/living room/kitchen/bathroom) and it's just under 1000 sq feet. I would always dread the hot months because that meant having to put air conditioner units in every bedroom as well as the living room. “INSOMNIAC ! Perfect AC Unit”

I suffer from insomnia and live in a 109 year old home without central heat or air. I purchased this 12,000 btu unit to replace a failed 10,000 btu unit I had for three years in my bedroom...I used to sleep with a pillow over my head and would still wake up to the sound of the rattling AC unit. This is by far the quietest window ac unit I have ever had ! I have had many different sizes and brands of window ac units over the years and I have finally found one that works great and is actually quiet ! “Kenmore 12,000 BTU Multi-Room Air Conditioner is ok.”

the instructions for installation were not very easy to understand and the installation was not that easy either even with help. like someone else said in the reviews it came dented and the unit turns on and off alot. It does make noise but I expected that since the salesman at the store said al do. But overall I rate it OK.
