This would be an above average humidifier if not for the crappy filter. Instructions say to replace at least once a season. How about once a MONTH or more. Dries out on top quickly and won't wick water above the water line. Solved that problem by purchasing an $11.00 submersible aquarium pump and wrapping the tubing around the top of the filter after putting several holes in it. Makes a totally different humidifier out of it. Is keeping the house at nearly fifty (50) percent with no problem. Fan actually shuts off once in a while. Come on, Sears, lower the filter price. It's only worth...
read full review »I bought this unit last year. I have a 1500 sq foot home. Sat it near the cold air duct as suggested--worked like a charm for the whole house....Once the house was initially humidified, it ran efficiently, quietly and wonderfully. I loved how easy it is to fill. Bought the filters for it this year and am ready for the time I turn the heat on. Have recommended this to lots of folks and they have praised it's efficiency as well. I've had plenty of units...this one is the best! Used a bit of bleach in the water to keep any smells down...works like a charm.
I run this 24/7 to humidify the top two floors of the house (1600 sq ft). It is extremely quiet and effective. It runs through two complete fillings/day on average. However it has a severe design flaw - the bottle *cannot* be filled up at the average sink, or even in the bathtub. I have to carry it downstairs four times a day to refill it with the sprayer in the kitchen. This is a major annoyance, and had I known about it, I would have bought a different product.
I have had this product for about a month. I decided to purchase it to help me through a dry winter in Colorado. It keeps my 850 square foot loft apartment (concrete walls, 20 foot ceilings, concrete floors) at a comfortable 60% with ease. The large reservoir is very convenient and once I got the humidity where I wanted it, it requires few fillings (once every few days). I would absolutely recommend this product to friends and family!
The product works well for humidifying the air. The lowest two settings are very quiet. I like that it turns off when it has reached the right level.
The bottle fills easily. Easier than the black version. We went through 4 gallons of water that it holds in 12 hours, but it will use less to maintain the humidity level.
The design has changed. Our display is far more basic that what is shown online or in the manual. It was advertised online and in the manual with a black/silver digital display, with words that display on it, plus separate high and low buttons (4 buttons total). The...
read full review »I read reviews on other brands and decided to go with this model. I was going to buy a similar unit by Honeywell but chose the Kenmore mainly because of the this unit blows the air up through the top, rather than out the sides. It makes for a more comfortable unit since the air does not blow directly on you. I have been using this unit in our 1100 sq ft loft apartment with 16 foot ceilings for about a month now. This humidifier has no problem keeping the humidity to the proper level. The humidity sensor on the humidifier reads about 10% lower than a stand-alone humidity sensor I have,...
read full review »This is now the second of this model that we've purchased in about 6 years. We have always needed a more humid environment in the bedroom to help with sleep (I'm a snorer with chronic sinus congestion). This machine is quiet enough to only be considered white noise. It does an excellent job of keeping the bedroom appropriately humid. I only wish the filters were a little cheaper. Overall, we've been very happy with this model. So much so, that we recently purchased a second one after using the first for about 5 years.
Kenmore 12 gal. Humidifier is practical to move around with wheels.
The water container is light weight to refill.
Late night, the product noise can be annuying.
