I have had this freezer and no problems so far. The delivery people came on a Sat! Which is great when you work during the week. And they were FABULOUS!
The set up was quick and easy. I was able to transfer cold food into it right away and in a few hours everything was frozen. The shelves are spacious and easily accessible. The door ajar alarm works great.
I have owned my Kenmore 13.7 cu. ft. upright freezer for about a month now. It works as promised with no problems yet. Temperature settings are pretty accurate. Not sure yet on how energy efficient it is although I was somewhat surprised as to how warm the sides and top get. There is some noise but not all that bad. With the extended warranty I bought from Sears, I can rest assured that I will get many years of service from my freezer and be fully covered should anything go wrong. I looked at many different brands and there really wasn't much of a difference between any of them. The compressor...
read full review »We brought this freezer home on a Sunday afternoon...by Monday, we lost all the food we put in it because the motor didn't work. It took Sears Service Department a week and a half to get the part and come back out to put it in. Of course I didn't buy the extra service plan since I expected it to work being as it was new, so I only was able to recover $100 for the lost food. Now that it is fixed, man is it loud! I can hear it running three (3) rooms away.
After reading the other reviews, it is nice to know I am not the only one with a noisy freezer. During part of it's freezing cycle, it moans and groans. The freezer is in the garage, but we can hear the loud noises in the house. I called a repair man to come during the first year, but all he did was try to sell me an extended service plan. He never even listened to it, just said they were all noisy and that's just the way it is. The salesmen, though, told me that it should NOT be noisy. When I reviewed my service call and said how lousy it was, I was never contacted by Sears again. ...

I owned many Sears products in the past and worked at Sears as a TV repairman for several years in the 60s and 70s this freezer is not built with the same high standards associated with the Sears and or Kenmore name. The shelving used is flimsy, the compressor is noisy, and the general quality leaves much to be desired.
So far so good! It runs a bit loud, but it's in the basement.
I am so happy to have the space to store food. It is awesome. It is a little louder than I thought, but the lock and the alarm system is the perfect fit for our family. We have 3 little boys and they are always getting food out so it is great to have a lock.
It is a good freerzer. Like many frost free models, the back does not have condenser coil so that the freezer can be only 3" off from the wall. The key is made of plastic(however, lock is of metal), but it is okay because it is not meant to be used every day. Although the display at the store had little urethane insulation leaked off the door seam, the delivered product does not have the flaw.
However, the noise of air blower to circulate cold air inside the chamber and cooling evaporator makes significant sound. I don't like to call it 'noise' because it does not sound like anything...

The price was not too expensive and it works well. But after previously owning a much larger upright freezer I sometimes find the smaller size not big enough for my family's needs. Is very quiet running and is energy efficient.
