Quiet and strong

Only ran it 2 days this year but it seems to do a good job cooling my downstairs (about 1000 sq ft) and is much quieter than the very old AC it replaced. Has four temperature settings from Warmest to Coolest which the manual says are 64 to 82 degrees in 6 degree steps - no digital display of temp setting,... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

I bought this air conditioner last year and just over 1 year the air conditioner has lost it's cooling power. It was not worth the money I paid for it. When I put down that much money on an appliance, I expect it to last longer. I will be not be buying kenmore again nor shopping Sears. They have started...

Great machine!

Cools a very large area, (900+ sq ft), very nicely.

Poor Quality

This unit never cooled well beyond about 15 feet. Stopped cooling all together half way through the third summer. An A/C should last longer than two and a half seasons. With all the work that goes into installing an A/C into a wall, I would never buy another Kenmore.

Great Buy!

This unit works perfectly. I use it to cool about 500 sq ft and it does a great job. This air conditioner is also much more quite than my 15 year old Kenmore unit that was still working great, bought this one for the energy savings.

"Yes" and "No"

I recently purchased the 18,000 BTU A/C, Model 75180. As far as cooling off the house, it works great. The only problem is that when the power is on, the fan runs continously, and every time the compressor turns on and off, it makes a loud 'thud' noise. If you can handle listening to the constant noise of the fan for hours on end, you may like this model.

cool-cool-cool

I bought this unit to cool my 1100 sq.ft. shop/garage. I live in the mid-west with 90degree summers with high humidity. Two summers have past and NO problems yet. I use about 6hrs. a day at 72 degrees.I did buy sears extended warrenty and have it serviced annualy.very happy with this 18000 btu unit.

ugh...run from this one

Cools wonderfully but had one problem free season. The compressor was replaced last year still under the coolant, 5 yr. warranty, but is once again making the dragging sound. My second season was broken valves in the condenser which caused my unit to freeze and leak like a waterfall. Now, we are talking "compensation" toward a new unit. It's installed in my wall...oy. I wouldn't recommend this unit at all unless you like to buy problems.

interesting

I like this air conditioner because its affordable and it works well. Its really hot in my room during the summer and i need an air conditioner that can work and not cost too much so i go for this specific air conditioner.

Air conditioner

I think this air conditioner will be a great replacement for our old one. I especially like how the air vents are at the top of the conditioner. It runs very quiet and cools the room very quickly. I would recommend buying one.

Problematic and expensive to repair

One year after I bought the air conditioner (and only used it for 3-4 months) it broke - 1 month after warranty. The capcitor failed - total replacement and repair labor (by Sears) cost over $380. I would not recommend this brand.

DANGER

The control board blew out 2 months after the 1 year warranty ran out.

not happy

Unit only lasted 2 seasons.

Poor

We bought 2 units exactly alike. The month after the warrenty ran out the first control panel went out. 2 weeks later the 2nd unit's control panel went out. We called out Sears repair they charged me 180 + $$ to tell me what I already knew and to inform me that the parts were back ordered for months.
