Kenmore 19.0 cu.ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator Energy Star —
This works well and is quiet. The problem lies in the design. When you open the door to the refrigerator, you cannot see what is inside - you literally have to bend over or scrouch down to see. Two more big cons are: the top area of the inside has a water dispenser across the front which greatly reduces your vision of the top shelf items and there is a huge panel for the temperature controls and the light that take up so much space you can't even fit a milk carton in without bringing the top shelf way, way down. So even though it is 19 cu. ft., it's actually more like 15 cu.ft of space. When you see this item in the store, we suggest you stand right in front of it as you would at home and open the door - you will find you are looking straight at the freezer door. This is absolutely the worst designed refrigerator we have ever had and we had to return it because of this.
We highly recommend not buying this item. We understand that this particular Kenmore was built by LG and that LG is going to be taking over the Kenmore Refrigerators from Frigidaire. If LG continues with these types of designs we will be forced to purchase our refrigerators elsewhere. This would make us very sad because we really don't like shopping for our home applicances anywhere else. Sears has been nothing short of fantastic in dealing with our problem and allowing us to exchange it for a different model because we were in the 90 day return period. We shop at Sears because they have always been extremely customer oriented. Unlike the "Warehouse" type of appliance stores that have absolutely no return policies whatsoever - no matter what. If you are going to shop at one of the Warehouse type appliance stores beware because if you don't like an item when you get it home you're stuck with it.
