Looks Great

This microwave is an upgrade to a very old one we had so we were very excited to get it. We love the design. We specifically wanted a stainless steel one and this one looks great. I also love the fact that there are no vents that you can see. They are on the top and you just run a cloth over the top... read full review »

3 stars

We bought this microhood to go along with a new Kenmore slide-in range (kitchen remodel). The combo micro/hood fan made sense as it would free up more cabinet space where the old micro was. Just installed the new one. The microwave and its features are very good. The problem is with the "hood" portion.... read full review »

Reality

It has an extremely loud humming noise when operating (you can hear it even down in the basement). It was that way upon first use. I called customer service, they scheduled a technician but he failed to show up in his 5 hour window. I call to see what happened and they rescheduled without telling me. Buy this microwave and you could end up wasting a Saturday waiting for a repair and truly learning how ineffective Sears customer service is.

Looks great, Works great....

We did not need a new microhood, but we had purchased a new refrigerator last year in the new 'clean steel' color. Then our daughter's dishwasher and range were giving out. So, we decided to replace our remaining white appliances (less than 3 yrs old) with the clean steel or stainless versions. This microhood is more powerful than our previous one, love the same hidden vent (works great) and, it matches beautifully. I rated the durability high because we have owned Kenmore appliances for years and the durability has never been a problem.

Good for now

We purchased this microwave to replace two other kenmore brand microwaves that went out on us (one after 10 years, the other after only 30 days). I like the appearance of the stainless steel, very sleek. It does have white interior (some of the others had a darker or stainless steel interior). Features are nice especially the soften and melt features for butter, chocolate etc. I rated the durability average because it has only been a month since we purchased it and based on our previous kenmore purchases we have anywhere from now to 10 years from now to have to replace it.

Microwave good, light bad

We bought our microhood 8 months ago. Its performance is quite good, but the cooktop light, which was not nearly as bright as I had expected it to be, just went out (after only about 300 hours of use) and it will cost $18.00 to replace it, as bulbs are not covered under a parts warranty after 90 days. (The replacement bulb is only available through Sears.) This type of bulb should last 2-3 years. Additionally, I find it takes longer to cook some items than previous microwave ovens we have owned.
