Very happy with this unit

This is a very powerful unit that cools about 1500 sf in my house without a problem. Before you get this unit, please make sure that you will be able to handle this monster. It is very heavy and does need a dedicated 230 Volt / 20A outlet close to the unit. I have installed it through the wall to replace... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

This is a very good unit for cooling a couple of rooms, but the blower is very loud.

you have to turn TV UP to hear sound. The noise is the only issue I see with this unit,

this unit has a blower that you have no problem feeling the air at 20ft. away on low.

( but very loud)

i had to buy this unit because my through wall hole is 26x18 and this is the only AC with those dimentions.  The old AC i replaced was from the 1970s and it was loud and inefficient.  I really thought they would have invented a way to make these things quiet accross all brands, i guess not.  This AC is loud but i works well.

junk

don,t waste your money. this model is nothing but junk. start having trouble 2 years after i bought it. after about 1 year later the compressor went out. i buy alot of stuff from sears. spent over 4000.00 just the last 60 days. hardly ever had any problem with sears items, ie freezer, lawn tractor and tools. stay away from the air condition!!!!

Watch out this A/C needs a 250V outlet!!!

This a/c is a monster - 150 lb - but I thought it would be able to cool my whole first floor no problem - which it probably can. Huge problem and the reason why I am returning the unit - you need a 250V outlet - I had no idea until after I installed the unit (long process BTW). Just wanted to save somebody else the trouble if they didn't know about the power requirements for this unit.

BEWARE!

Although this unit worked well when it was first purchased, the compressor broke after 3 years of use and the cost to repair was more than the initial cost of the entire unit. Calls to the service center were totally unproductive. We had to wait over a week to obtain a service call, then the technician cancelled the day we were scheduled for service and we were put back into the waiting list for another week. Calls to the managers were useless - all the reps were rude and dismissive. We bought an excellent model elsewhere for less money and the installation and service were great. I will never... read full review »

Great AC for the Price

I bought one of these units two years ago when my central AC quit. I was only days away from having surgery so for the sake of time and money I put one in the front room and camped out until I was back on my feet. This thing worked better than I expected in a mobile home. I had more medical problems last year so I borrowed a smaller unit (different brand) for the bedroom and limped through last summer. The one I borrowed was way to loud and made my electric bill soar. I went to Sears yesterday and picked up another Kenmore #75121 and couldn't be happier. I am using them both and the whole house... read full review »

Noisy and unreliable

We had a large Kenmore air conditioner that quit after 20 trouble-free years, and so we bought another. This one is poor. It is much noisier than the old unit, and has died in its second season of use (at most 6 weeks of actual operation).

WARNING

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!! STOPPED WORKING AFTER MINIMAL USAGE. PURCHASED MASTER PROTECTION PLAN AND IT WAS USELESS. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. 6 WEEKS LATER AND STILL BROKE. LOST PARTS,WRONG PARTS.. BEWARE !!!

Works Wonderful !

This unit works Great! We use a fan to push cool air to the rear of the house. It easily cools our 1700sf home on low fan. It replaced a 20 year old unit and we're VERY happy. It's not "whisper" quiet, but, none this size are. It's no noiser than our old 18kbtu unit. Simple filter cleaning a plus. It's been 105* and unit keeps up fine!

Great Product but Features Misleading

This product works fantastic - cooled the entire upstairs area in a short period of time. My only complaint is that it lists as a feature a "timer" function. However, while other models allow you to set a start and stop time daily, with this product you actually have to reset the start time daily. A bit of an annoyance, but worth it overall.

5 stars

I live in a 1972 single wide mobile home. Its fairly large for a single about 1000 Sq. Ft. Dont be scared off by the 220 outlet. I paid $180 dollars for an electrician to install a outled for me to run this AC unit. This is by far one of the best investments I have made. This A.C. works amazing. Imagine a large swamp cooler on high blowing air. this thing blows about the same amount of air but ice cold! It cools my house down quick then I turn it off for an hour or 2 until I need it back on. My electric bill went up about 35 dollars. I would recomend removing a window and permanently installing... read full review »

This Air Conditioner Does Not Work right

I will not tell anyone to buy this window air conditioner. This will be the second time the repairman will come out to fix it. There is a problem with the temp. setting, The compressor keeps running for hours at a time will not cycle. That means the compressor should cycle and it does not. I have to manually turn it on the cool setting, about 45 mins. and switch it over to the fan setting. I got the temp. setting set for 86 degrees and the compressor is still on. The energy saver setting will not work, it keeps running with the compressor on. I have to turn it over to the fan setting or shut the... read full review »

Piece of junk

We bought this A/C in August 2004 and have had problems with it since October 2005. Service techs have replaced everything in the unit and it still "freezes up" (actually has ice on it - must run on "Fan Only" or turn off to unfreeze). Power Saver feature does not work. DO NOT BUY!!!
