I installed this a few weeks ago so I can't comment on long term reliability. I wanted a reasonably priced dishwasher that cleans well and this one certainly fits the bill. It's not a horribly noisy machine, but I wouldn't describe it as quiet. You definitely know it is running although the noise... read full review »

My wife and I have always been please with the Kenmore brands so our first place to shop for a replacement for our 13 yr old Kenmore Dishwasher was Sears. Like most people,we researched dishwashers prior to making this purchase and for the first approx 10 months, we were pleased with it's performance.... read full review »

Models having a "garbage disposal", including this one, have what amounts to a 2.5 inch metal plate directly in front of the pump intake in the bottom of the tub under the removable housing. A nylon shaft comes off the pump and turns a tiny two-armed "chopper" that forces food through small holes in the 2.5 inch plate. It clogs easily. It's a challenge to get to and a serious pain in the butt to reassemble, so make note of how you pull it apart. Plan on rinsing all your dishes thoroughly if you insist on purchasing this less-than-mediocre machine. Good luck getting your kids to do that! The... read full review »

The machine has a nice interior design and it fits a large capacity of dishes as well as large pots and pans. The drawback though is that the dishes have to be completely washed clean prior to being placed in and running the dishwasher. This actually renders the dishwasher to only a sanitizer as opposed to its intended use as an actual dishwasher. If you plan to casually rinse dishes then place them in the dishwasher, the excessive smearing and streaking of what looks like a combination of dishwashing liquid, dirty water, and any food remnants, will make having a steady supply of plastic cups,... read full review »

I replaced an old Maytag that didn't get the dishes very clean or dry.  My new Kenmore is much quieter and the drying cycle is very hot.  Cycle time is longer than with older dishwashers.  Has a lot of features for adapting to different glassware and utensils - nifty rack for knives, rack that holds stemware in place so it doesn't have to be hand washed anymore.  Now if I can just stop my habit of washing the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher...

Do not waste your money!

My husband and I decided to buy this dishwasher after very high reviews from the salesman. We were looking into a Bosch dishwasher that had great reviews from online and from family, but we loved the size and the santize feature on this dishwasher and bought it. Within the first few days of owning it we have had issues like the tines being cheap and bending and some of the accessories breaking. The turbo wash does not work and you have to make sure your dishes have no food before you put them in, it will also etch your plastic cups. The real issues have begun after 6 months of owning this machine....

many d/w brands are built in the same factory. this one cleans well, holds many dishes, wine glasses too.

but the door is something else, truly a nuisance, without counter weight, heavy, yet you  push it aggressively to open and pull heavily to close.

can I recommend another brand? don't know. on the Sears floor the doors were similarly balanced, not the door on this machine!

This dishwasher was installed in our home about 2 weeks ago replacing a 1982 Kenmore that still worked; albeit not well. We've given the new dishwasher the business and it runs like a champ! We cook (think many pans and dishes, gourmet, over-the-top-type cooking) and EVERYTHING fits in this baby. I love the ability to easily reconfigure the racks as needed. Everything comes out clean and sparkly. We have not had to rewash a single item.

We did our research by reading ****************, visiting several showrooms, looking at many models, and this dishwasher had the best ratings and the best space...

I had a old machine that came with the house it was a wash and store kinda deal.

I upgraded my kitchen and wanted a washer to clean my dishes without washing them first. This has done a great job! Need to read about what buttons to push to get what you want done with it. I thought it was using the back jets to wash a pan But had not set it up to do that. But still did much better than my old one. It has a food chopper in the bottom which is so different than the old ones. If I do not want to hear it run which is better than the old one I can just delay the start to run later. And be sure and push...

We replace a KitchenAid with this one. We were having problems will the old one leaving some dishes dirty and redepositing dirt to the glasses. The new Kenmore is great! It cleans the dishes and no more dirty spots on the glasses. It is a bit louder than the KitchenAid but it CLEANS dishes. That's what a dishwasher is supposed to do, right? We have recommended this one to my parents now that their old unit has died and they are going to get it.

Big Mistake

Bought this washer 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems over the 3 years. Even when it was new the cleaning ability was just OK. I've been without a working washer for almost 3 weeks now waiting for Sears "service" to get the proper parts. Not a great time to be without a dishwasher as we head into Thanksgiving.  If you're looking for a dependable washer, you need to stay clear of this one.  This is the first Kenmore appliance I've purchased and I'm happy to say it will definately by my last!

I am so happy with our Kenmore 1374.  It holds more, cleans better and quieter than the two Whirlpools we have had previously.  The price was reasonable.  Possible to buy cheaper, but we have found ourselves penny- wise and pound - foolish when buying our Whirlpools.  Not durable, noisy and hardly held anything.

This washer is mediocre

I purchased this washer to replace a 20 year old washer, the washer is ok, but there is still soap on the glasses when the cycle is complete regardless of the washer mode. The true disappointment was the hidden costs, I paid for delivery and installation, and made it clear there were two sets of stairs and was told that was in the fee. It was not. Also there is a hook up kit that is also no included in the installation, OR A POWER CORD?? These costs come to about 150 dollars over the 120 "installation price" , I could have gotten a better washer from ***** at a cheaper install price.... read full review »

Kenmore Dishwasher (1374)

Bought this dishwasher 3 weeks ago because our old machine stop working.  This machine is quiet and cleans very well.  It has many features and cycles.  The rinse cycle is good for us because we do not have enough dishes to do a full load everyday, so we rinse the dishes on the nights we do not wash.  Knife basket keeps falling off, but everything else seems fine.

I usually install the dish washers myself but been very busy and opt to have Sears install it.  The installers were suppose to call us the night before the installation and never did.  They were suppose to call before they arrive...

When shopping for a new dishwasher, we looked at several of the "box" stores and found the sales person(Violet) to be the most knowledgeable when it came to overall product.

We were skeptical at time of purchase, but the product is "super" quiet and performs much better than expected and has received our seal of approval.

THANKS!!
