I did a lot of research before buying an air purifier and I am glad I did... and that I chose this one. I've had it for years now (I think since 2004?) and it is going strong.
Changing the filters is ridiculously easy and it tells you when to do it, so no need to bother with that.
Noisewise it is perfect. I find it has nearly no "mechanical" noise, but what sound it does make is a whoosh of air that's no worse than a fan or a/c (quieter than my a/c for sure). I'm supersensitive to noises so I find it's actually helpful because it provides a pleasant blanket of white noise over the little things...

I suffer from horrible year-round allergies and my husband has seasonal allergies. We placed this HEPA filtration unit on our first floor and one on our second floor. My allergies have been reduced by about 70%, and my husband's allergies have also been reduced. It's not the most attractive thing to have in your room, but well worth every cent. The only regret is that we didn't think to buy one of these sooner knowing how much relief I've experienced!I will never live without one again.
I have used this air purifier for over a year and I am very happy with its performance. The filter change indicator lights are a useful feature. The HEPA filter I am using now has lasted over a year (non-smoking household) and the carbon pre-filter can be vacuumed to prolong its life. It is also pretty quiet.
I have found this unit to work so well, I have no problem with the money I spent on it! It really clears the air of odor, staleness, dust, pet dander, etc. I agree that it is not the most attractive thing, but who cares. I highly recommend it!
I run a 24 hour in home daycare. I also have 2 dogs, and 2 cats. About a year ago I had a family enroll in my daycare only to find out there son had allergies to both dogs and cats. I had bought this air purifier (this one was recommended by his allergy Dr.) to help him feel comfortable until his family could find other care. After I had bought this his allergies symptoms had cleared up and he showed no real signs of allergies, so the family left this child in my care because they didn't really want to leave.

I am very pleased with my Kenmore HEPA air cleaner. It makes the air very crisp and fresh in my bedroom. It makes a low humming noise and gets louder with a higher fan speed, as with any air cleaner, but the good thing about it is there are no other random noises, like rattling etc. I would recommend it.
The air cleaner works wonders trapping dust, dog hair and clearing cigarette smoke. I use two large-chassis units and one small chassis unit in our 2,200 S.F. home. The drawback I have found is that the HEPA filter needs to be changed more often than once a year or the air cleaner emits odor when turned on. I vacuum the units and change the pre-filters regularly but that does not alleviate the odor problem. The HEPA filters are quite expensive, but I have to change them every 9 or 10 months to avoid the odor problem. However, since the HEPA air cleaners do a great job of eliminating dust and...

I love this air cleaner. It has helped with my allergies. Although I wish the design could be a little more attractive and possible slimmer in size, it has worked very well so more. It is not as quite as quiet as I would like, but I am thankful it works so well for my allergies.
By the way, do not remove the styrofoam from inside the cleaner. The instructions do not tell you to. I spoke with someone who has this, and they said it is there to help the machine run more quietly. I would recommend they add instructions to the manual to make it clearer for others who buy this in the future. ...

Compared to others (and I have 3 "others') the Expensive "infomercial" one!! This Kenmore is Super Quiet in comparison, even on high!!
I bought this product strickly due to ratings from Consumer Report, and from this Web Site! So please continue to Rate this Air Cleaner!
My son has severe Enviormental Allergies and Mild Asthma. I will try and update ( if they let me) how he does using this Air Cleaner, as we have not had it long enough for me to say either way! But just from the little time we have had it, the AIR is better, already!

Overall good I own a cat and I smoke my non-cat and non-smoking friends tell me there is no negligible smell in my one-bedroom apartment I prolong the life of the pre-filter by vacuuming it once a month and washing it in a house hold cleaner every two months (air dry flat), which extends it life 6+ months The HEPA filter's lifespan can not be extended I run my filter continuously on low I hope this review is helpful
I really like it; the only drawback is the high cost of the replacement HEPA filters
We have two birds and this product does an excellent job of cleaning the air of bird dander and dust.
When we first bought this we had 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 puppies and a baby due in a month. That was 9 months ago. This air cleaner works great, and it's been running non-stop since we bought it and we have had no problems. The filters are a little pricy, but which ones aren't. We have a clean house, but this just helps to make it that much cleaner. I am getting ready to buy a second one to put in our bedroom. Appearance wise it is a little big, but as far as noise I think it's pretty quiet.
A leading consumer agency that tests various air cleaners gave this model high ratings in all areas. It is quiet and moves a tremendous amount of air. All you have to do is remove the grill to see what pollutants are being trapped. A simple vaccuming of the pre-filter is all that is needed to clean it and after several times doing that I replace it with a new one. The pre-filter does an excellent job of keeping the HEPA filter from getting clogged. It is basically a simple design, but extremely efficient. I've been using this product for almost 2yrs and there was no problem at all and the room feels fresh. I can see the dusts trapped in the filters. Is very quiet and easy to control the panel. It says to change the Hepa filter every one yr but actually you can use it more than that b/c i'm stilling using it. The panel shows you when to change your filters so don't worry about when to change.
